He was brilliant today. That said we defended fairly deep for big parts of the match, which probably suited him.

 

But they hardly created anything from that side

as long as Elliott, Fabinho and Milner minded that space. Once that changed to Carvalho, Henderson and Trent we looked far more vulnerable. And Foden got in behind us and put in a very dangerous cross on 93 minutes that could easily have cost us two points.

He's been definitively written off by several on here. Not the slightest doubt, he's finished, shouldn't be near the team, embarrassing, etc etc. And only those who opposed that kind of crap got any flak. That's how mad it's got on here. If they had even the tiniest  bit of decency they'd feel pretty embarrassed themselves.

I’m beyond happy to be proven wrong by his performance yesterday. He clearly learned from his struggles against Foden last year and imposed himself early on. Hats off to young Harvey who worked his socks off to support him.

Was definitely a bit frustrated seeing the teamsheet. As much about konate's injury as anything. Really rose to the occasion (in no doubt he would, mentally, but not so convinced he could physically).

My MOM yesterday, I actually thought TAA being out might be a blessing in disguise. Forced to be more compact and defensive minded down that right side.  Milner and Gomez handled Foden and Silva really well and with Haaland clearly ordered to stay central it didn't feel to me like they had a numerical advantage in the centre of the pitch like they have in previous seasons.

We shut down their right side completely for most of the game.

 

It changed when Carvalho, Henderson and Trent replaced Elliott, Fabinho and Milner in their positions. City had more joy after that and broke through on 93 minutes for Foden to put in a cross that could easily have cost is two points.
