It’s a shame he missed that swipe on Antonio, it would have been a classic Milner leveller.

Loved his tackle on Ait Nouri, showed all his experience to recognise he was offside and he had a free hit on him, absolutely levelled him.

I don’t understand the clamour to get rid of him. If we do renew his contract it’ll probably just be for one year on (comparatively) low wages and I doubt the existence of that contract would have any impact on us bringing in someone else. It’s a poor reflection on others that he’s often provided more passion and energy  than most when he’s played this season.

Over 100 grand a week for cameos. If we weren't a frugal as fuck business I wouldn't be arsed it's not my money but that's wages that could go elsewhere someone who has a future role. A coaching job plus a pay as you play deal. I'd be happy enough with that for him. He's the kind of serious pro the club needs, especially during a transitionary period. for the team.

not only do I value his on the pitch contributions massively more than those of Fabinho and Henderson, I would suggest youngsters in the squad would respect and look up to him far more than the other two.  In other words, he'd be worth more to this club.

You cant have both Milner and Hendo occupying places. You need one or the other. Which will most likely be Hendo. Milner gives his all but is wiped out after an hour. I think Hendo is the type that tries to manage his energy so as to play 90 minutes and often looks like he's not giving his all but its game management from him.

At the moment, neither Hendo nor Fab look like they can put in the required effort for anywhere near 90 minutes. Maybe we should see if they can each manage a proper 45 minutes in some kind of job-share until we strengthen in the summer. They should have been embarrassed to watch the youngsters closing down at pace last night.

Has Henderson played 90 minutes for us this season? 
 

Milner is a better player, a more versatile player, and winning the lactate test this preseason for the 7th year running his stamina doesnt appear to be major worry.

 

Keeping Milner for another year is probably worth it for the cover at RB alone. Henderson should be sold if there are any takers.

You offer him a playing/coaching deal and keep him unless he wants to move to Leeds.
