Why would there be Israeli flags on the cup,

There were a few in the ground. I guess he saw them and it inspired a slightly unnecessary comment.

It does seem a touch unlikely they'd be draping the cup in them.

Is it possible its a bit of sarcasm towards Israel stealing every piece of land from the Palestinians they can and putting up flags as evidence? I personally think he's a tit but think this might be a clumsy land grab witticism. Fuck him anyway.

May also have something to do with Mo Salah being Egyptian too?

Oh yeah,Tottenham and their Jewish connections. Never even thought of that. Were they supposed to be goading Mo Salah or what, given we've had Avi Cohen,Ronnie Rosenthal and Yossi Benayoun in our team?

I don’t think the Israel flags had anything to do with us. Why would you think that?

It's a bit weird that a good few people have been critical of City's successes and made comments about their owners human rights abuses. But there's been literally nobody accusing those who've raised these legitimate human rights concerns of being anti-Islam etc.

Galloway was being the typical troll that he is, but it's sometimes very very difficult to follow the unequally applied rules of the game...

I think this is one of those things which can be criticised without equivocation.

Fucking odd, foolish, needlessly provocative and deeply unhelpful remarks, not to mention how he’s casually appropriating things he has no right to put his name near for his own ends.

Silly cunt.

Galloway stands for Palestinian rights. He doesn't like Israel. He's entitled not to like Israel without being labelled antisemitic. Tottenham fans sometimes display Israel flags. Galloway, not being a fan of Israel, doesn't want to see that particular flag being waved in a celebratory manner. A bit petty, mind.

Linking it to our success and being on the cup etc is weird and I'm not sure how he's got to that point. But, I'm sure that he's trolling. But, I'm not sure that he's being...you know...

Odd that when a club actually owned by an Israeli won a major European trophy just three days earlier, he said nothing. Almost as if Israel is incidental and he's just trying to wind up a fanbase which has a large Jewish contingent.

Rightfully sacked. No justification for that whatsoever and to conflate us with his views on Israel shows a deep ignorance of our club and the Israeli and Jewish players who've represented us.

Why are you bringing Jewish people into this? Unless there is something else that be not seen, he hasn’t mentioned Jews at all.

He could have just highlighted our Palestinian flags, rather than their Israeli flags.

Well, he could. Not sure why he would though, as he’s a massive detractor of Israel and those who support their actions, regardless of ethnicity. I think that’s a legitimate stance and one many of us, Jews and otherwise, share. What I don’t really get is why he would talk about it being on the cup. The Spurs fans supporting Israel have no bearing over anything to do with the cup decoration. It was w cheap way to insult Israel and those Spurs fans who publicly support Israel by brining national flags.

i bet some in the media are going to call him out as an antisemite and he will win fuck loads of money over it.

Because it would be considerably more difficult to jump on.
