It was a forgone conclusion that Messi and Christinao Ronaldo would receive loads of nominations, they are fantastic players. However, I can’t bring myself to pick or nominate either player. With the exception of international tournaments, I haven’t watched Messi or Ronaldo for years. I have no interest in the modern-day incarnations of their club sides, and in my opinion, off the field, they are unlikeable, boring twats.

You just don’t like modern stuff full stop.

I like some modern stuff, depends what it is. For example, the new Waitrose Cherry Bakewell Yum Yums are boss. Their Toffee Pecan Yum Yums were nice but the new ones are better.

I fell out of love with contemporary football for various reasons, about a decade ago. Every now and then it still pulls on my heartstrings, Klopp is great, etc., but I can mostly take it or leave it, nowadays.

I understand why, say, Lionel Messi is so popular, especially with kids or people who have grown up following his career, he’s a great player. Personally, I’d rather watch players from days of yore, as I just the find game as it was back then, far more interesting.

I know he'll probably piss it in the poll, but if it's all time 11 I don't think C. Ronaldo should be a certainty by any means.

Ruthless goalscorer and athlete who has maximized every inch of his ability, but if I was picking an all time 11, I don't think I'd have him in. Id rather go with pure footballers.

If he's wide, or an inside forward, he'll be in with Garraincha, Best, Cruyff, Messi and maybe to a lesser extent players like Rivelino, Jarzinho, Ronaldinho. I don't think it's cut and dry.

Im not sure many sports stars, movie stars etc carry that same cool factor they once did. Probably impossible in the days of social media, camera everywhere and a 24hr news. They are mostly all so media trained as you say its boring.
