Just watching this 2nd semi final, why is that that so many player's (particularly so many English player's) first instinct is to pass the ball backwards / sideways / negatively, rather than get their head up, take a touch, be progressive?

I rarely watch other teams and to be honest Im not arsed who we play, I’d prefer to play palace in the final if I had to choose but I would enjoy seeing Chelsea fans upset after we smash them.
