Had a real flashback with that Crickets song which I haven't heard for a long time.

When I was little, my Mum had an old Dansette type record player that took a minute to 'warm up' when you switched it on and that was one of the singles that she always played.

It's amazing how a song or a piece of music can just transport you somewhere from your past that you had completely forgotten about.

True, but I'd rather listen to NIN than the Crickets. They're obviously very important, even vital to what came after them, but to me it's similar to wanting to play The Witcher 3 over Pacman or watch The Big Short over Citizen Kane (just plucking random examples out of the air there).

Not sure, I love it.  Bright, refreshing, singable tunes.

 

More Casablanca or (to go a little later) a Billy Wilder film, than Citizen Kane, for me. Timeless.

I've not heard Nine Inch Nails like quite a few of the bands mentioned, so can't vote on some but here I've gone with The Crickets as they were great and pretty much influential in there day.
