Reading on here, it seems like the common wisdom of the day is that 1 up front is the problem. Not sure I agree with that. Anyway, Nice to see Phil back I'm hoping he and Sterling are in and around the box, and then working hard without the ball.

Didn't sign the right players in the summer for his avowed system.

Still no pace or power to properly press in the middle.

This is supposed to be our ethos but we've got Allen Lucas Gerrard and Henderson to do it. Not good enough.

Has he recognised this and adapted? Has he bollocks.

As someone has just said above, its almost planning to fail with Mario up there on his own.

Strange business.

exactly the same midfield as last season or was our pressing back then a mirage

What is his 'avowed system'

Pressing isn't a system.

Why not? Counter attacking is known as a system.

So i don't see why pressing the MF isn't one too. Spliiting hairs. Pointless. Call it "possession" if you like.

Whatever it is, the loss of Suarez and Strurridge means our MF is exposed more often this season, and we can't hack it with current personnel. So far anyway.

Point is he didn't sign the right players to play the way we are told he wants to play.

In my view.
