I was watching my lad playing footy last Saturday and i kept getting my phone out to see how long was left in the game. I even kept saying to myself, look at your watch, look at your watch, but it didn't help. Force of habit after two years of not wearing a watch.

Along the same lines, had to have my watch serviced and battery replaced a couple of months ago. Took a few days and when not wearing a watch I was constantly looking to see what the time was and shifts in work dragged like fuck.

As soon as I was wearing the watch again I hardly ever checked the time.

On the subject of watch repairs etc, I've got a half decent Paul Smith watch which I bought a while back. It's always felt a bit too big. And, as I've lost a bit of weight recently, that problem increased. Needed to get a link out of it and a new battery as it'd just laid in the box for ages.

Took it to F.A. Welch Jewelers on Bold Street. Everything done in about 10 minutes and he only charged me 20 quid. I'd definitely recommend them if you need any basic repairs/adjustments doing and you can't/don't want to do them yourself.

Some decent deals on Wowcher at the minute for Armani and Boss watches, as well as Debenhams with up to 60% on their accurist and rotary collection.

Always seemed a bit odd to me, fashion designers making watches. Only works if you wear them with your Rolex undies

Yeah they don't have a great rep, tend to be Chinese workings inside them.

For my money, the best watches you can get for less than £500 are Citizen, Seiko and Casio - in that order.

Me and my mate have had a couple of golden rules for years now:

1. Never buy trainees made by a tennis brand (Fila, Ellesse, Sergio Tacchini, Lacoste etc).

2. Never buy a watch made by a fashion brand.

Served us both well for years ensuring we both remain stylish. My mate even passed on the advice to his now 22 years old son who is carrying our torch and educating his mates with our pearls of wisdom.

Agree with these two rules although i'd narrow the trab one down further, due to the fact that i've not gone with any other brand than adidas or Nike for absolutely years.

Always have a nice coat and a nice pair of trabs. That's always been my philosophy, but i'm adding these two to that list definitely.

Shoes and coats are the only clothes worth spending top dollar on. A winter coat made by a reputable brand is a world away form a cheap one, as is a leather or a nice fitted smart one. Same with shoes and boots that don't fall apart. Stuff like t shirts and jeans though, I don't think it matters myself.

Agree with this

I'd add always invest as much as you can in good glasses/sunglasses.

Thoughts on this cheeky number?

70s style. Quite like the green face version but not really sure it's my style.

I really like this watch and was tempted to buy one the other month but decided against it, as I rarely wear the ones I have. The black one is my favourite.
