  • Liverpool 5 Tottenham Hotspur 1 (April 27 2025)

Sometimes when you’ve waited so long for something it becomes impossible for it to live up to expectations. For the past couple of months I’ve felt that this was going to be the case with this title win. While we hadn’t been able to celebrate a title win at Anfield in 35 years, it wasn’t quite as straightforward as that, as we haven’t exactly been starved of success.   We’ve won shitloads of other stuff, so we’re not in a situation like Newcastle were in recently when they finally got

  • Van Dijk: Every day I am proud and privileged to be captain of Liverpool

Virgil Van Dijk saying captaining Liverpool is an honour that he does not take for granted as he stands on the brink of joining illustrious names in the history of the club.   The Dutchman has earned many individual honours throughout his career and been part of successful teams however you sense being the captain of a title winning side means a whole lot more.   Speaking to the Dutch Publication AD (per the Mirror), Van Dijk talks not just about success on the pitch, but the

Alexis: I do not have any reason to leave Liverpool

Alexis Mac Allister has categorically dismissed the prospect of leaving Liverpool anytime soon.   The popular Argentinian midfielder has been his trademark consistent self during this title winning campaign for the Reds and in general has proven to be one of the best value for money signings the club have made during this success-laden era.   Too often you see modern day players almost more concerned with their own image and social media profile than their own performances on

New Zealand Could Offer Liverpool a Viable Multi-Club Expansion Route

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to quit as Liverpool manager at the end of last season marked the end of a period of improvement for the club. Club owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) needed an experienced figure to lead the Reds into a new era and brought Michael Edwards back to Anfield.   Edwards previously laid the foundations for Klopp’s nine-year managerial spell as the club’s sporting director. He returned as Liverpool’s chief executive of football.   FSG’s plans include investing

That was the Week that Was (Apr 21-26 2025)

Monday Apr 21:   Reports today claim that “Chelsea have moved into pole position” to sign Huijsen. The same reports say he favours. Move to Liverpool. What the fuck does that even mean? What a load of nonsense. How are they in pole position if they aren’t the club he wants to join? It isn’t a bidding war as he has a release clause, so other than offering him a load more wages how can they put themselves in “pole position”???    Of the teams linked with him, Chelsea are probab

Premier League Round Up (Apr 19-23 2025)

Everything is more or less settled now at the top and bottom, but the fight for the Champions League spots is going right down to the wire and you’ve got five teams fighting for three spots.   It’s the only thing worth following between now and May, and while I have my own preferences for which three make it, given the fact I don’t like any of them I know I’ll be able to take satisfaction in the misery of the two who miss out. That and the fact we’re Champions.   Arsenal are

    Leicester City 0 Liverpool 1 (Apr 20 2025)

Another step closer. We’ve put in quite a lot of unconvincing performances in recent months while still generally coming up with the results. I’m pretty sure we’re top of the form guide as well as the actual table, but often it hasn’t been pretty. This was another to add to the list because of the way we just about scraped over the line against a truly dreadful team, but leaving aside the scoreline I actually think this was one of our better performances this calendar year. It was a 4-0 performa

That was the Week that Was (Apr 14-18 2025)

Monday Apr 14:   A list was published today showing the amount of money clubs paid agents over the last financial year. We paid out £20m or so even though we only signed one player. Chiesa’s agent must be living the high life like Scrooge McDuck. On a serious note, obviously that money wasn’t for the Chiesa deal so what’s going on here? There were no major contract renewals done in that period either, so I’m assuming it’s to do with spreading payments over the length of contracts or so
