I misheard. The DPP will be able to review the FA and their role in Hillsborough.

Let's hope he goes after them; there's blood on their hands.

Hopefully, the FA's 150th anniversary celebrations get completely scuppered by their having to deal with being investigated.

Apparently, there is going to be a big announcement from parliament at around 6pm tonight. It will be shown on LFCTV.

OK, it's not big in the sense of progress with the investigations or anything like that, but it is big in the sense of keeping it in the public eye.

Williams to sing Hillsborough song - Liverpool FC

Williams to sing Hillsborough song

Robbie Williams is one of a host of stars set to contribute to a Hillsborough charity single which is aiming to be Christmas No.1.

The former Take That singer - winner of 17 Brit awards - will work on the cover of The Hollies' classic He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother.

Produced by Guy Chambers, the song will also feature Mel C, Shane MacGowan, Mick Jones (The Clash), Peter Hooton (The Farm), Pete Wylie (The Justice Tonight Band), Richard Hawley, Chris Sharrock (Oasis), Ren Harvieu, Dave McCabe (The Zutons), Paul Heaton (Beautiful South), Hollie Cook, Jon McClure (Reverend & The Makers), John Power (Cast), Beverley Knight and Gerry Marsden (Gerry and the Pacemakers).

Further names are set to be added to this list ahead of the song's release on December 17. All artists involved are giving their time for free, and all proceeds from the sale of the single will go towards the Hillsborough families' legal costs in their fight for justice.

A press conference announcing the project was held at Westminster on Thursday evening, with Kenny Dalglish, Chambers and Steve Rotheram MP breaking the news to assembled media.

Chambers said: "I am deeply honoured to be asked to produce this record for the 96.

"If we can help to raise money to support the families' legal battle so that they finally get their time in court then our job will be done.

"I spent my teenage years in Liverpool and feel a deep affection for both its musical heritage and the unique solidarity of its people."

The original version of the song was used to great effect earlier this season by Everton at Goodison following the release of the Hillsborough Independent Panel's report.

Dalglish added: "The families of the 96 should never have been in the position they are now in, of having to fight to get the accidental verdicts from the 1989 inquests overturned.

"I will continue to support their dignified campaign every step of the way."

Triple Ivor Novello-winning songwriter Chambers has previously worked with Williams, Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones and many others.

The recording sessions will take place at his London studio and at the world famous Metropolis Studios. Pledge Music will also be offering a host of exclusive items via their website to aid the campaign (PledgeMusic).

In 2009, Steve Rotheram, then Lord Mayor of Liverpool, brought together Peter Hooton, John Power, Dave Pichilingi (Sound City), Phil Hayes (The Picket) and Kevin McManus (Liverpool Acme) among others to record Fields of Anfield Road for the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy. The record spent two weeks in the top 20.

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother is expected to go even further and will hopefully challenge the X-Factor winner for the Christmas Number 1 position.

Anne Williams has terminal cancer and will be staying in a hospice from monday.

Cancer is a cunt.

This is heartbreaking and it's another legacy of the Hillsborough cover up that people are going to the their grave without knowing exactly what happened to their children, parents or siblings.

The people responsible for the cover up are despicable bastards and I hope they rot in hell.

A bit more detail here.

Hillsborough mum Anne Williams still hoping for justice as she reveals cancer battle

Dan Kay - Oct 27 2012

COURAGEOUS Hillsborough mum Anne Williams has revealed she is suffering from terminal cancer.

Mrs Williams, 59, who has campaigned tirelessly for justice for more than two decades after losing 15-year-old son Kevin in 1989, has been unwell in recent months, only leaving hospital two days before the Independent Panel's report was released in September.

Supporters are already moving to try to get a new inquest into Kevin's death brought forward as soon as possible.

Anne, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer, will move to a hospice in Southport to be closer to family after being taken into hospital again on Wednesday following her absence from Monday's Commons Hillsborough debate.

She said: "I'm still getting my head around the whole thing.

"I don't want to know how long I've got because I just want to enjoy whatever time is left with my family and friends."

For many years before the breakthrough, that came following Andy Burnham's speech at the 20th Hillsborough anniversary memorial service, Anne was a constant force in trying to get to the real truth about the disaster.

She submitted three petitions – with a fourth now active – for a new inquest into Kevin's death to the Attorney General and took her case to the European Court of Human Rights.

Anne said: "I want to thank everyone who has helped me over all the years, the barristers and forensic pathologists who waived fees to enable me to get through the system as well as the people of Merseyside who believed in what I was trying to do when it felt like no-one else was listening.

"They supported me because they knew I was right and I'll be always be grateful for that.

"I'll keep on fighting – I've been doing it for long enough – but I'm not an idiot and know how serious this is.

"I did watch the debate from parliament this week and it was good to see things start to move forward - I just hope I get the chance to see justice for my Kevin and for the 96."

Anne was one of the six families involved in the formation of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign in 1998 and they have been handling her affairs again in recent times.

Sheila Coleman from the HJC said, "Anne contacted me on Thursday to tell me about her health and obviously I am devastated at the news.

"She has often sacrificed her own health for the cause and after fighting so hard for so long, it is vital she gets to see the truth and justice she deserves.

"The human toll of Hillsborough goes way beyond the 96 who died but having known and worked alongside Anne since 1990, I'm not writing her off.

"She has proved beyond doubt what a fighter she is and it is really important that people continue to support her and let her know that they are fighting alongside her."

A Facebook page has been set up by a Merseyside mum hoping to speed up the new inquest into Kevin’s death.

Jo Gower, from Wallasey, said, "I've never met Anne but I read her book When You Walk Through A Storm over a decade ago and it's always stuck in my head what she's had to go through - as a mother, you'd do anything for your kids and I'd be the same if it was one of mine.

"It's wrong that it has taken so long for the truth to come out and she deserves to hear it all with her own ears before it's too late.”

She is also asking people to sign up to an e-petition at https://www.facebook.com/GetKevinWilliamsInquestBroughtForward

went to see that Beating Berlusconi the other night. absolutely fucking brilliant. one actor (Paul Duckworth) on stage for 2 hours telling the life story of Kenny Noonan up until after istanbul. I think he said there's another show on in Liverpool in mid November with all proceeds going to the Hillsborough families (could be wrong about that but I'm pretty sure that's what they said at the Q&A afterwards)

Phil Scraton was there from The Panel for Q&A after and interestingly he said for once, he didn't believe all the conspiracy theories about how much Thatcher had to do with the cover up. He was more scathing of Tony Blair and Jack Straw.
