I was posting in this thread when the site crashed on Saturday, so:

 

1 - Ngog; showed a good first touch, brought teammates into play and really showed up his strike partner for effort and application.

 

2 - Johnson; OK he didn't maraud down the right wing much, but he was solid defensively. Could do nothing about the second goal as it should have been dealt with beforehand.

 

3 - Meireles; slightly below par but still looked to play positively every time. His attitude and application is first class, and he really deserves to get a goal soon.

 

Maxi would have been in my top 3 because he was very good for an hour, but after Newcastle made their first sub, he just disappeared. Lucas was good not spectacular, and Konchesky (bar not tracking Nolan) didn't play badly. Babel tried to make things happen when he came on. The poorest displays were from Torres, for a lack of application, and Skrtel in particular, who was struggling to help Kyrgiakos cope with Carroll, and whose game went to pieces after Ranger came on.
