Ivan Drago ruled and ruled hard. Rocky 3 and 4 were ace. Despite it getting a critical panning, I actually thought Rocky Balboa was a very watchable film.

Did it? I find that crazy, thought it was ace myself!

The only time I've ever heard people cheer in a cinema is when he threw his first connecting punch.

ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY!

What are we talking here with favourite? Favourite as in badassery or favourite as in favourite?

Actually, it would have to be Apollo for both. He ruled immensely, was a tough son of a gun and was the best 'boxer' Rocky ever faced. Drago was roided up to the max, so is disqualified and Clubber Lang was beated inside of three rounds in Rocky III and would never have whooped an in-the-zone Rocky in the first place.

I didn't see Spider Rico, or Mason "The Line" Dixon anywhere in the poll though. Not that I'd ever vote for one of those two.

Spider Rico in Rocky Balboa rules the crazy twat.

I thought all the Rocky opponents had endearing qualities that made you like them and were all charismatic in their own way.

The blossoming friendship between Creed and Rocky was heartwarming and he helped Rocky get back on his feet in Rocky III.

Clubber was just a nasty guy with no redeeming qualities but what a part he played.

Drago says about three words in the whole of Rocky IV but the guy just oozed charisma.

I didn't like Tommy Gunn and I don't put him in the same class as the other three. Same as the film itself really. Plus they didn't even fight in the ring which is what it is all about.

Mason Dixon was too bland and too nice.

Loving this thread.

Think you're dismissing 5 a bit easily there, in Rockies mind he was in the ring again, that was the point of the whole film. The again, if you include Tommy you have to also consider the merits of the fight with his Don King promoter 'Touch me an I'll sue yer', he should be in there too technically if only just to thicken it out a little.

Both would be bottom of the pile in my eyes but it is a democracy, unless the queen gets bored with officially opening residential homes of course so let's do this properly.

Back to the script, so I voted for Clubber, he is underrepresented in here, he is Mr T, Jade Goody's Patrick Swayze never had the same dignity in diagnosis, a true measure of the man, I always wondered what became of his character.

However I must raise my glass eye to Drago hard as 'N-N-NAILS, NOT SNAILS' and reminis about days when all I had to do was watch Predator and Rocky 4 and want to be Apollo Creed, in the jungle, with a machine gun. Whether he was getting his arms severed and quarterised by a lethal outer space alien killer cyborg or merely getting his face caved in by giant Russian steggar fuelled haymaker-Levy's, he always carried himself with dignity.

Got to be Clubber. * Points at Mickey* " Shut up Old man , you don't know what I had to come from!"

Everything Lang says is amazing. Hell I often find myself asking , What would Lang do?

" No I don't had Balboa but I pity the fool. And I will DESTROY any man who tries to take what I got"

As far as the montage arguement , it has to be No Easy way out. Important to recall the hilarious conversation Adrian and Rocky had just before it starts.
