Dear me, that just pissed on everyone's chips. Cram sounds gutted.

Shit race from Bolt to be fair, bad pick up and couldn't quite get there, thought Coleman had it but Gatlin pipped it on the line.

Shut up Cram.

He can't start like that and expect to win. Still doesnt matter though. Best athlete ever.

Best sprinter ever, best athlete is debatable.

Every time I see Bolt, I see one of the great underachievers in athletics history. His WR of 9.58 will stand for years, but he had a 9.4 within him, no question.

Underachiever? He's lost about 4 races ever and has more gold than errr.... Goldilocks

100m is where it's at mate. Please don't compare him to a rower.

What about Paavo Nurmi the flying Finn? Different discipline but an awesome Athlete on the track. Carl Lewis who did it in sprinting and Long jump. Bolt is without doubt up there with them both but people tend to go with the flavour of the moment when going for the best ever quotes, all about opinions though. In 20, 30, 40 .....years people will be saying the same thing about the next flavour of the times compared to Bolt.

One thing for sure, it has been a pleasure living through his career and indeed Carl Lewis's, Michael Johnson's, Mo Farah's etc etc.

I'd chuck Gebrsselasie and Hicham El Guerrouj in there too.

Indeed, two very good runners. Plus we are only on about male athletes, there has been plenty of great female athletes who deserve the same praise. Obviously when just talking about track and field. If you add other sports then you could add a load of swimmers etc. Like I've already said though, people go with the flavour of the moment a lot when comparing sportsmen and women. Bolt is certainly up there, but I've witnessed others over the years who are just as deserving for the best ever or a share of it.

Carl Lewis can fuck off too

Fed off the clean athlete and threw shit at Ben Johnson for years when he should never have been in Soeul anyway after failing test in the trials. He was a cheating two faced twat. Must like 7 of the other sprinters in the 88 final.

So you think he's completely filled his potential then? Think that puts you at odds with the reality of the situation tbh.

Id say finishing his career with his medal total and a taking the world record from 9.77 to 9.58 yes he more than filled his potential. Especially when he has done notjing but fight through injuries the last few years.

It took around 40 years for .200 to be taken off the world record before that.

9.95 Jim Hines Mexico October 14, 1968

9.78 Asafa Powell Athens,GreeceJune 14, 2005

Usain Bolt 9.72 2008

Usain Bolt 9.58 2009
