Let's bring you some of this morning's hottest gossip. The Mirror is reporting that Liverpool have begun talks over three January moves this weekend.

Brendan Rodgers is apparently keen to recall Belgian striker Divock Origi from his loan at Lille early - the paper suggests that a deal has been struck, as long as Lille can sign a replacement.

The Reds are also said to be chasing Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri and Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto, in order to provide competition for Simon Mignolet.

I'm glad we're looking at Shaqiri, but he looks a bit short to be a goalkeeper.

Not that I think it's such a great loss but wasn't this whole episode with Brad Jones a bit strange? Here he is being handed the starting role, indefinitely, and then walks off with a mysterious injury against Burnley - how often do you see a goalkeeper do that?

Now we need more competition for Mignolet, which I agree with, but the whole thing seems pretty arbitrary.

Glad to see Rodgers is addressing the defensive issues by getting rid of the defence altogether and playing 0-9-1. Genius.

Only Liverpool could take a look at the possible goalkeeping options across Europe including Leno, Horn, Perrin, Handanovic, and many others and say "Hmm, yeah, Neto, that's the one we want."

He must be one of a mere handful of GKs starting in one of the top 5 leagues who is actually worse than Simon Mignolet.  You don't just find a lack of quality like that at first glance, you have to really hunt to find someone that bad.

Fiorentina fans have already turned on Norberto Neto with a bitterly critical banner unveiled in training.

The goalkeeper, who committed quite a few howlers early into his Viola career before gaining confidence, declared this weekend he will not renew his contract.

He is therefore able to leave as a free agent at the end of the season.

Fans are furious and a banner was placed alongside the training ground today.

‘Protected, cuddled, defended: for Neto all of this meant nothing.’

The shot-stopper has been linked with Liverpool, Roma and above all Juventus.

"Free agent" and "Liverpool" in the same paragraph. Fancy that.
