This. Exactly this.

But the opposite.

I tried Star Trek Discovery; I loved the way they've given women the lead roles. They've written the main character very well, as a Human raised by Vulcans. She's complex, has internal strife over whether to do the right thing logically or follow the rules of Star Fleet. Shame about the Klingons being a bit shit though. Their armour and stuff is good, the face/skin is a bit wank. I watched episode 3, which was one of the best new episodes of TV I've seen this year. The main male character - played by Jason Isaacs - is mysterious, and willing to do almost whatever it takes to win the war with the Klingons. You've no real idea if he's good or bad yet. Possibly a bit of both. A far shot from the familiar fare you're given with older stuff.

Agree with this in the main. I don't think it's as female-centric as being made out, save for the lead character, as we're only four episodes in.

Complaining about aliens in Starfleet, the military/explanation arm of a federation of different worlds and species, is like complaining about having food on your plate at mealtimes. If anything, I'd say the crews on Discovery are more representative of what a diversity of species would look like, and Saru is a welcome change of pace from an out-and-out heroic alien like Worf.

I'll agree that, up to now, the Klingons have been a bit disappointing, but the developments at the end of the fourth episode may change that.

All in all, I think it's been a good start.

Does Alien count? She gets her kit off at the end of that.

I remember once seeing Michael Aspel interviewing Sigourney Weaver. She talked about that scene and she said she was relaxed about it at the time but for years afterwards she kept getting loads of sleazy, creepy, stalker letters.

Michael Aspel said "Oh, you got them?"

13 reasons why - 6/10. Does well dealing with the bullying aspect of school, but was wayyyy to drawn out. Why they have commissioned a second season, I have no idea.

Started on Mindhunter yesterday, and think I will enjoy this.

I liked 13 Reasons Why but agree it was too long.

Watched the re-run on Friday. Enjoyed it, seemed like the first episode was just setting the scene. Expecting it to go batshit tonight.

Just watching Theroux before it (smashing it again) but i'm knackered so might swerve it till tomorrow on catch-up
