Tbh he needs to fuck off international football. He's 31, if he has aspirations, like he always says, and wants to win leagues/champions league and the balon dor he needs to focus on club football.

Nah man.

He does have aspirations - to be the greatest African player ever. To win the Balon d'or as you said.

Neither of those happen without success at international level, especially the balloon.

Balon d’or me arse. Sick of this fucking shit. We pay his wages. As someone else said even if he misses the same games injured that would be preferable to him going deep into the competition then coming back absolutely fucked anyway. What use is he to us then?

I don't think he has much chance this year playing in the uefa cup.

Club has said it's a back muscle strain and he'll miss the last group game/round of 16 game, with luck Egypt goes out in the Round of 16 then.

Hopefully its the old Coutinhoivitis strained back

Posterior strain! Fucking hell, I've heard it all now.

Surprising isn't it.

I would have thought if anyone was going to suffer that it would be Thiago considering the amount of time he's been sat on it.

The Liverpool FC site article originally mentioned a back injury. It’s now changed and they don’t specify which posterior muscle.

They’ve effectively qualified anyway.

Hopefully the finish 3rd and get a tougher game in the last 16…

if they finish 3rd, it’s currently looking like Mali or Morocco, if they finish 2nd it’ll be Congo, Tanzania or Zambia.

Not repeated to Mo, got to think 24 nation tournaments having a last 16 is bollocks. Only the bottom sides get eliminated, you can qualify for the knockouts by just being less shit.

Same for the Asia Cup.

That’s the direction of travel for all the international federations….shoehorn as many games into every tournament . Against the wishes and advice of all those concerned for players welfare and playing standards.

6 groups of 4...so 4 of the 6 3rd place teams go through.

But yeah still bollocks.

Ah, yes, what am I think. D’oh.

By letting so many sides through, they devalue the group games.

Unfortunately, if Egypt get Morocco, you can guarantee they’ll be forcing Mo to play on 1 leg.

You wouldn't mind it so much if the players only arrived 2 or 3 days before the tournament, with no friendly games in advance. It's obviously still mental, but there needs to be trade offs somewhere.
