Lucas last game before he was injured against Chelsea away was the best performance I have seen from him but that was like two years ago and he hasn't returned to that level.

We need a player like masch badly, someone with his kind of energy, if gerrard is to play as one of the two CMS we need a monster next to him who can do all the defensive duties.

Agreed we need a mash man in the team/squad, I'd make a January bid for this mad bastard

You can only beat those in front of you.  Gerrard played well and showed pace, power and technique in scoring a goal just before the 90 minute mark, no matter how much those who may not like it will say.

 

Gerrard is our best midfielder, and is still a key player for club and country.  Sorry about that.

Lucas was fucking awesome in the 3 games before injury. Fucking awesome. I'm holding out hope he can reach those heights again. We're only 7 games into the new season.

Yeah, he was.  Kenny Dalglish is a living legend and has plenty of credit in the bank with me (lucky guy), but I kind of think he was at fault for that injury.  Playing those three high intensity games... it was madness.  An injury waiting to happen.  I really hope he can get back to that level too, unlike some fans who want him sold/replaced/dead just so they can  claim (wrongly) that they were right about Lucas all along.  Saaaaaaaad.

It does throw up the question, why isn't he playing like that for Liverpool? Is it our system? Our manager? Or is it the player himself?

I'd like to try Gerrard and Henderson in the middle, and with Coutinho out, I'd like to see Allen in that position, behind Sturridge and Suarez.

I reckon mostly manager's orders, Rodgers wanting to play with a sitting two in midfield.  Partly Gerrard then taking a bit of time to get used to the set up and when to best time his forward forays.

I hope Rodgers goes for 4 at the back a diamond midfield.  Lucas sitting, Gerrard and Henderson further forward and Coutinho as the 10.  Would get the best out of Gerrard, plus would be better for Henderson and/or Allen playing in that position.
