That's the word we have constantly heard from FSG, most notibly Henry and Werner, when talking about buying players for the club. I remember on the 'phone in' on LFCTV and they both mentioned that word when talking about potential signings in January. I'm sure I have heard Comolli use this word as well in his interviews. Now this word can be interprepted in many ways. I mean could you consider the £35 million for Andy Carroll a 'value' signing? Financially you'd have to say no at present as he isn't a £35 million player. But then again we were buying potential and for the long term, if he plays for 5-10 years at the club £35 million over that time frame might see…

Deserves it's own thread now, otherwise the transfer thread is going to get completely sidetracked with this. Just what the actual fuck???? Liverpool Football Club would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs. We apologise to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstanding regarding Virgil van Dijk. We respect Southampton's position and can confirm we have ended any interest in the player.

LOUIS VAN GAAL SACKED BY BAYERN Posted 10/04/11 10:43EmailPrintSave (pulled from Football365) Louis van Gaal has been relieved of his duties as coach of Bayern Munich with immediate effect, the German club have confirmed. The 59-year-old was due to leave the club at the end of the season but his departure has now been brought forward, with the club fourth in the Bundesliga and struggling to ensure qualification for next season's Champions League. Van Gaal led the club to the league title last season, his first at the club, and also to the final of the Champions League. His assistant Andries Jonker will take charge until the end of the season, when Jupp Heynck…

Bets to follow STEVEN GERRARD is likely to sit out Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Sparta Prague tomorrow night – but talented teenager Raheem Sterling has been handed a surprise promotion to the first team squad for the trip to the Czech capital. Skipper Gerrard missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wigan due to the groin problem he aggravated in the victory at Chelsea and he’s set to miss Kenny Dalglish’s first European game as Reds boss. The problem isn’t serious but Liverpool will take no risks with the midfielder with bigger tests to follow over the coming weeks. However, schoolboy Sterling will be on today’s flight after his heroics in the 9-0 rout of…

Man Utd will not win the Champions League. Comfort betting on them is just throwing money away and I want some. I am that sure of it that I want to put my vcash on it and I'm offering 2/1 as well. (You'll only get 13/8 on Paddy Power) I'll take as many bets as my vbankbalance can match without going into vdebt. Can I do that? As far as I know only mods and daves can post vbookie events, and it went wierd on me when I tried it, but is there any other way of privately transfering vcash between members?

I didn't realise he'd had such a horrific event in his life, seems a very strong character. "Moses can be forgiven for wanting to seize every opportunity he can, and refuse to be sidelined from pursing his life goals, given his devastating history. As a child in the central Nigerian city of Kaduna, he suffered the most devastating tragedy imaginable. His family got caught up in religious conflict because his father Austin was a Christian pastor in a city with a Muslim majority. Both his father and mother Josephine were killed in their home when thousands were murdered in rioting in 2002. Moses, then just 11 years old, had to be smuggled out of the cou…

It looks like this is actually going to happen. I wonder if he'll be backup to Mignolet or if he'll actually come in as our number one keeper.

A while back, I think in the England-Germany thread, I mentioned I was working on a piece about the use of video technology in football. It's taken a while, but I wanted it to be clear and accurate, so I waited until yesterday to email it to the editors of various football publications, with a request for feedback and tips on maybe improving the content or wording. On the strength of that, it will be forwarded to FIFA, where hopefully Blatter himself will look at it. I wanted to post it for Member's perusal first, instead of the wowdy wabble of wetched wapscallions that populate the FF. It's a long read, but please tell me what you think. I will post any feedback I ge…

Anyone follow it? My team, Song Lam Nghe An, are the current Champions. We beat those twats from TT Ha Noi on the last day of the season to clinch the title. No one can match our passion for football.

I'd be interested to hear what people who you know who support other teams think. I have been surprised by the response from those I know. I work with an Arsenal fan and he said it was stunning business. He questioned Torres' decision to go the Chelsea, but thought the way we responded to the situation was impressive. My mate who is a Spurs fan said he was now jealous of our front pairing. He thought the price for Carroll was too high, but said he wouldn't have been bothered if Spurs had gone and got him for that. What have you heard?

Seasons pretty much over we've won the Carling Cup, beaten finalists in the FA Cup and with two games left in the League can finish a highest position of 7th and, depending on fixtures (having looked at points only so not taking into account any teams in the mix playing each other) could finish as low as 13th. Was it a good or bad season, did you see signs we're going in the right direction or are we just drifting? What needs to change, what needs to be done better, what did we get right?

My god have things got that bad that we don't even have a match thread for tonights game on here? Are people really not that arsed? If so, why? I won't lie, I bloody love Monday night games - I think they should have them every week as they are usually brilliant. Wasn't the 4-3 game against Newcastle on a Monday night? Anyway back to this game. Villa have not looked good at the back this season, unlike previous campaigns. They have some injuries and are in poor form, certainly results-wise. I see no reason why we can't win this comfortably. Most of the team picks itself at the moment, with injuries to Gerrard and Carragher. However I think Hodgson wi…

So back to the serious business of just fucking win. I think we're in a phase where maybe the team.is picking itself. Fitness allowing I expect the same team as last week, although if there's any doubts about Salah, I'd not play him. As for villa, I can't quite work out how good or shit they are. Seen them a bit and a fluctuate between thinking they're proper shit and then looking fairly decent. Maybe they'll have a similar season to wolves last year, doing well against good teams and badly against the worst. Anyway, we just have to win. 1-2.

So back to watching games at home then rather than the pub. I don't know why, but I have a strange feeling about this one. I assume thiago is still on covid leave, if so, I expect the same team as last week against arsenal. I'm going for a 1-1 with a pen from Salah.

So fuck knows what team we'll play. Fuck knows how it'll go. I don't even know if I want us to win! I don't want anything that might interfere with us winning the league and if we get the semis I assume we'll play a little stronger side. Even if it comprises of squad players, that could have a knock on effect in the league. Despite all that, I'll go with a win! 2-3 hatrick for some.12 year old I've never heard of.

So time to bounce back and twat these cunts. I think klopp will make a number of changes for this one, in fact I'd expect up to 5 changes. The pubs are back open on Saturday, so will anyone be going to the boozer to watch? I've got no real interest in returning to the pub just yet, it sounds shit. So more homebrew for me. I want us to beat that 100 point total, so no more fucking about. 6 wins please red men.

We really need 3 points again here. But I feel really down after that mess on Tuesday. The performance more than the result has really knocked me. We should be massively up for this one after the humiliation earlier in the season, but then you'd have thought we'd show something against Everton and Madrid, but there's been fuck all. It's like they've all be meditating before the come on the pitch and nobody reminds them to stop. I think villa are fucking crap, but we'll no doubt make a meal of this. We have to stop this disastrous home run and we need to remember it's really ok to score in the 1st half. Klopp will probably change some players round…

Not had a chance to watch the Stoke game yet as I was working, but I'm a superstitious sod and have started the last two match threads so am starting this one to hopefully keep the winning run going. That said, I'm going to totally contradict myself and say that although I've listened to the past two games on the radio, I'm going to the Villa game. If we don't win I think I'll sell my season ticket and just listen to every game - well until that winning run ends, anyway.

Who wants to win three league games in a row and four out of four games in December? Four points off fourth? More luck versus the blueshite and Newcastle and we'd sit in fourth. Fuck the doubters - be close enough come January and we have a chance. I've never once not doubted that. Said from day one, it's who ever sorts their shit out first. Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, Us? All have plenty of shit to sort out. I'm ignoring Chelsea there - surely Rafa will manage third with that squad? (If we win our two games at home to Villa, Fulham, we'll be a point behind them by the time they are home.) Three points home to Villa and we'll have made more ground. Stoke play Everton…

Here we go again, sprinkling matchgoing stardust into the lives of internet based thrill seekers like an unlikely batman and robin. There is also the possibility of a night out in Nantwich afterwards. Should have a few spares for this. Priority will be given to those willing to enter into the banter rather than simply collecting the tickets, grunting and sipping from a can of diet sprite. For this game, Mark will be relieved of money collection duties, so save your piggy bank contents for the next one.
