Taylor hit a 110 average in a final before. In fact, if you look back at bdo averages. The highest ever average, in a bdo final, was phil Taylor back in 1990. 

 

Don't get me wrong, mvg is playing great at this moment in time. But Taylor was doing that for nearly 20 years. Absolutely relentless

I guess it depends on how you classify peak but I'm sure I read recently that they looked at the 3 year peak of both of them and Taylor comes out on top, just. Something like one leg in 100.

 

To be fair to Taylor, he did it over a longer period and wasnt being pushed by other great players either. Nothing to prove this but i reckon if MVG was around when Taylor was at his peak, he would have pushed him on even more.
