January 2011 Transfer Window Speculation Thread

There's no doubt which striker available in January is likely to have the greatest impact on his new side -- Ajax's and Uruguay's Luis Suarez.

The world's top goal-scorer in 2010 has been made available by the Amsterdam club due to its financial struggles -- though it has raised the asking price from £17 million to £19 million as a result ($26.5 million to $29.6 million), according to Goal.com.

That price, however, may still be a good deal, as he is listed by many as being worth upwards of £22 million and has a goal rate and age (23) that should make him worth even more than that.

The fact that transfer wizard Harry Redknapp is interested, too, should be a sign that the price is right. Tottenham, though, is being rivaled by Liverpool for the Uruguyan, as both teams are in desperate need of a striker.

Spurs have failed to get any production out of the trio of Roman Pavluychenko, Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch -- most of their goals have come from Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart in midfield -- and Fernando Torres is in desperate need of a striking partner at Anfield.

Spurs, though, appears to be in the lead in the race for Suarez, as team management has declared him their top transfer priority and because Suarez wants to raise his daughter in London.

The Champions League prospects for Spurs and Liverpool may also be a factor in the decision.

Nothing, however, seems to be set in stone yet.

"Ajax have received approaches from both clubs, although nothing is imminent," a source told Goal.com.

Still, if Liverpool can manage to bring Suarez in, it would surely be a coup for the side -- and a blow to a team the Reds must supplant as they claw their way back to the top of the table.

Suarez, of course, is also known for his controversial incidents. He has been serving a lengthy suspension for biting an opponent, and he also famously handballed the would-be game-winner against Ghana in the world cup -- saving his country's hopes.

And so another striker goes to Spurs, and sooner or later they're going to have to increase their wage cap, which is where you get players playing for money rather than the love of the game, and before long 'arry is suddenly 'promotoed' to England manager, while the next Spurs manager is responsible for taking them down the league because they're skint. A common theme in Redknapp's glittering career.

Hearing from a mate who's a steward at LFC, that Arda Turan may be a possible signing.

He also added that he had heard that Comolli and Dalglish were both keen on Turan (24 yrs old, gifted and with high resale value) but Hodgson wasn't interested.

Hodgson wasnt interested as he felt Poulsen could do a job there.

Hodgson wasn't interested because he was targeting players with height rather than pace and skill.

We've always, in recent times, been the nice boy trying to chat these players up.

We try to sweet talk them, take them on romantic dates, buy them a dog, tell them how beautiful they are and just as we're about to move in for a kiss, the likes of City, United and Chelsea just turn up, drop their trousers and unveil their massive cocks. The fair maiden then usually turns out to be the fucking whore we didn't want to believe she was, and tries each cock out in her mouth for size before choosing which one she wants up her ass, then tells us what a nice boy we are, and how nice it was to meet us.

According to Liverpool.no, the owners are coming over this week, maybe as early as tomorrow.

Their sources claiming "something big is going to happen" in the next few days, whether that be transfers, stadium, new CEO or whatever.

They're usually very reliable, even more so when claiming "exclusives".

Isn't tomorrow the day we are supposed to be appointing the new CEO?

Maybe we're paying up the rest of Poulsen's contract and having a party, the likes of which have not been seen since the Ewok shindig at the end of Return Of The Jedi.

When has that EVER happened? Money is always the issue.

Please let it be that Alonso will be the first signing for the 2011 - 2012 season

quality player will fit straight into the team and could be available for less than he was sold for

it will be new CEO more than likely and at which point the signings lined up will be given the go ahead as the rebuilding begins

Till his next head cold, muscle strain etc

To be honest he has been pretty unlucky, all his injuries have been stinkers. He's certainly no Aquilani, missing matches on end because of a hair being out of place.

I don't think he's our best centre half though, not by a long way.
