Don't the authorities have some sort of rule about sportsmanship, bringing the game into disrepute, that sort of thing... ? For England against Wales (I think). He was one yellow away from a suspension and Englands next two games were against a minnow and someone decent. I seem to remember if they won the two games they'd have qualified so he got a yellow on purpose so he'd miss the game against the minnow and then he'd be free to play in the game that meant they would qualify.
