Reserves v Bitters Tonight

I think Ayala and Mavinga compliment each other perfectly.

In Ayala you have a no nonsense defender with good heading ability who will just hack the ball away and in Mavinga you have the pace and a player that prefers to pass the ball.

Both defenders are still rough around the edges but both show signs of promise and when you drop back into the u-18's and see the likes of Wisdom coming through it looks like we may well have talented central defenders in the near future.

I believe that in the last couple of games, Andre has been playing on the right wing for the under 18's, which struck me as a bit odd.

Ayala's reading of the game is very good. He's strong and is really good in the air and his position is class.

I think he's loads of potential.

Ayala is a funny one, and maybe the most improved player on reserve level over the last year. He is also a proof we should not be too quick writing off players.

Off course he have not made it yet, but this time last year whenever I saw him play for the reserves he looked so out of his depth, and he was miles behind Kelly and San Jose.

Due to Aggers constant injuries he was drafted in for the pre season training camp. I was surprised he got so much playing time, but that beeing said he and Kelly was the youngsters that grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and he really surprised me with his performances.

At this level and age some players seems to stagnate or regress, and a very few take major leaps forward. Ayala certainly has improved immensely and looks certain to have a future in the game.

Wisdom looks much better at right back, right wing or in midfield than as a central defender. I think his best position for the future will be as a central midfielder.
