I think there might be something in this, he sounds like a direct replacement for Crouch. I haven't seen much of him but a Mackem mate says he's a very good player.

In all fairness from the little i have seen of Jones he has looked a decent player. Big, strong, holds the ball up well and has a bit of pace about him.

If we were talking about £4-5 million then i would say he is maybe worth the risk but at the figures quoted at around £10-12 million then i would expect an International with far more pedigree about him.

gotta say it stinks of tabloid bullshit especially at 12 million, seeing as the black cats paid what 6 million in the summer? not seen much of the lad myself but heard he can be a bit of a handful. but as some have said the Crouch link looked like a load of shit at the time. i really can't see this happening though. if it was for 4-5 mill like coop said maybe i'd believe it. but the fee is garbage, and it's in the Mirror

If such a thing could exist; Drogba was a 'poor man's Drogba' at 23 wasnt he?

It looks almost certain that Crouch will be on his way, and it seems Rafa wants someone good in the air. The fact that Kenwyne Jones is very fast is a bonus I guess.

I wouldnt be too quick to either rule it out, or rule him out as a player, he's growing for sure.

I think you know my answer to that question

However unless he was swapped I think a signing like that might just be enough to push of lot of loyal Rafa backers over the edge

It wont happen though

What? I think all loyal Rafa backers and ANY Liverpool supporter will give Rafa's signing time to either shine or fail.

Stop talking bollocks.

I don't really think Rafa has made a quality striker signing (Torres aside) so I'd prefer he bought proven quality which less chance of failing.

I do agree with you Rashid. I also don't feel that we need to worry about having a 'giant' striker. We just need someone good in the air(hey look! Huntelaar is great in the air!)
