After Bobby Robson saved them from relegation, they averaged around 5th or 6th. Not good enough for Fat Freddy and his delusions of grandeur. So Robson was sacked (and the classless Freddy made him sweat for his pay-off) and Souness was brought in. Every Liverpool knew it would end in tears. Great midfielder. Crap manager. Despite the fact we all know that Souness is a shite manager, he's not the first manager at Newcastle to fail despite the spending of massive amounts of money. Agreed. There's something fundamentally wrong with Newcastle and it's not at the playing and coaching level of the club (although there are problems there too). Shepherd is the closest thing English football has got to a Jésus Gill figure - and there are even more shady characters lurking around St. James' behind the scenes.

How about shutting the fuck up and giving them years, rather than months to perform? He could also stop second guessing them in the transfer market. He's signed a number of players without the manager's agreement. Bowyer springs to mind, for one.
