As most of you will have noticed, TLW was down for about 12 hours. this was because Slashdot linked to an article on my Photocritic site, which runs on the same server as TLW.

 

Because of this, we had 12 times more traffic than normal, and the server ground to a halt instantly. To try and get everything back up, I shut down the whole server for a short period, and tried a series of different things to get everything back up to speed, but all to no avail.

 

My apologies, and I think it's unlikely to happen again soon.

Oh dear.

 

As amusing a person as MR. T is, I wouldn't think you can make flippant comments about Chuck Norris and get away with it. Every time you see Mr T just remember that the reason he is allowed to continue spreading such pity is due to Chuck's muted respect for him leading to him personnai non-roundhouseai. This status could be revoked at any time Norris felt like it.

 

And it would be pointless anyway. Chuck Norris is a flame retardent.

Heh, nope, servers don't get rebooted. you just restart the services. But even if you did reboot it, it wouldn't do any good, because of the sheer barrage of people visiting.

 

The red line on the image below represents the average traffic TLW gets... The blue line is the traffic to Photocritic over the past week.
