A young Liverpool Reserve side will take to the field in Leyland on Monday night as Paco Herrera and Hughie McAuley's team face Bolton Wanderers at the County FA ground.

Godwin Antwi lines up at right back for the first time while Antonio Barragan again plays on the right side of midfield. Trialist right winger Paul Anderson, from Hull City, is on the bench for Liverpool.

Miki Roque partners Danny O'Donnell at the heart of the Liverpool defence while Jack Hobbs returns to the team in a holding midfield role.

Welsh Under-21 international Ramon Calliste partners 17-year-old Austrian Besian Idrizaj in attack.

Liverpool Reserve team: Paul Willis, Godwin Antwi, David Raven, Miki Roque, Danny O'Donnell, Jack Hobbs, Antonio Barragan, David Mannix, Ramon Calliste, Besian Idrizaj, Danny Guthrie. Subs: Lee Peltier, David Roberts (GK), Adam Hammill, Michael Nardiello, Paul Anderson.

Barragan once again playing in Right Midfield - be interesting to see how he goes on and maybe an option for later this season

I believe in 3 - 4 years time we will see the real value of the way that Rafa has bought these youngsters, trained them with the first team and played them in the reserves regularly, especially with the that he keeps changing the positions that they are played in, improving their versatility and their alround game.

Googled Anderson and he's a 17-year-old right/left winger

About what Red Nick said about Barragan, Spain always have great youth teams and it's very rare for players to play outside their age groups, the only ones I can remember in recent years are Fabregas, Barragan and another lad from Sevilla that we tried for called Diego Capel.

We tried to sign two or three players from Sevilla's youth team in the summer.

Is he any good on FM2005?

From Bolton's official site (the one it says is a registration site when it isn't)

Wanderers 2

Fojut 30, Borgetti 31

Liverpool 3

Gutherie 40, Maddix 74, Raven 82

At a rain swept Leyland, Bolton Wanderers second string, which included Mexico's leading striker Jared Borgetti and the highly-talented Hidetoshi Nakata, failed to capitalise on a two goal lead eventually going down 3-2 to Liverpool at the County Ground.

As early as the tenth minute Bolton had the first opportunity, when Nakata linked well with Joey O'Brien on the left to provide a telling cross towards Borgetti who placed his header wide of Paul Willis' right hand post.

On the half hour mark the game exploded into action. After some concerted attacks from the Wanderers, it was a conventional set-piece that finally caught Liverpool out.The influential Nakata delivered a superb ball from the right finding the unmarked Jaraslaw Fojut in the six-yard box who tapped the ball home with ease.

A minute later, and yet again, Nakata, who by now was running the show, found Borgetti on the edge of the box.The talented Mexican slipped his marker with a neat turn and then fired his shot beyond the outstretch arms of Willis. It was a typical finish from the Mexican who should why he is one f the most natural strikers in the world today.

Liverpool never gave up and were rewarded five minutes from half time when Adam Hammill crossed from the left finding Danny Gutherie who rose above the Bolton defence to send his looping header beyond Chris Howarth into the Wanderers net.

Wanderers made three changes at the break with Jimmy Phillips and the on-looking Sammy Lee seeing enough of Nakata and Borgetti. Dale Whitehead was also subbed after picking up a knock towards the end of the first period.

Both teams came out for the second half in buoyant mood with both sets of players playing some nice football.

It was Liverpool who took the advantage and on 75 minutes Bolton gave away a free-kick on the edge of the box.Young David Mannix bent the ball over Wanderers' wall into the net leaving Howarth stranded in the Bolton goal. Liverpool were back level setting up a grand finale to an absorbing game.

On 82 minutes, Liverpool had clawed their way back from a two goal deficit to take a lead thanks to a fierce shot from David Raven.

Wanderers tried to find a way through the Liverpool defence looking for the all-important equaliser but their effort came to no avail.

Wanderers: Howarth, Powell, Stott, Whitehead (Sissons 45), Ellis, Fojut, Sinclair, O'Brien, Nakata (Roddy 45), Borgetti (Smith 45), Buval. Subs not used: Ashton, Charlesworth

Liverpool: Willis, Antwi-Birago, Raven, Roque-Farrero, O'Donnell, Hobbs, Barragan (Hammill 35), Mannix, Calliste (Nardiello 75), Irdizaj (Anderson 45), Gutherie. Subs not used: Peltier, Roberts, Nardiello.

Referee: Mr M Matadar

At this rate in 2 years time we'll be able to field to premiership winning teams

A shame only 11 can play at one time.

were obviously overburdened with defenders at present.

Be interested to see if the likes of Barragan actually get games for the first team before Jan.
