Why? Rafa takes over a team that has appeared in the Champions Cup Final in each of the previous 2 years. The Sporting Director is responsible for buying players? So tell me, what was Rafa's contribution. He made a very good team into a very good team?

No, he made a very good team champions.

Hermes, you intimated he had nothing to do with the success at Valencia. That is why it was stupid.

I agree with you that he has not been a success, as i deem it foolish to judge long term projects, that have had unprecedented disturbances, over an 8 month period on the basis of success or failure.

There is devil's advocate and then there is a continued "doing down" of a man who has been here only a while and is working towards the success of the club. Houllier was NEVER going to take us that extra few feet to the title, maybe Rafa can maybe he can't but i'm certainly going to wait and get behind him before geting him in my crosshairs as you seem to have done already.

"Incidentally Valencia were 3rd when Ranieri was sacked. Try another comparison"

Good point, why was ranieri sacked then?

Player power, they didn't like the fact that he brought in a load of Italian players and didn't like his more relaxed style.

No, I didn't. Somebody suggested that it wasn't he who tried to buy Diouf, and said the sporting director was responsible for signing players. I asked was the sporting director responsible for winning the league then. It was a question, not a statement.

A rhetorical one?
