Darwin Nunez has returned to full training ahead of Liverpool's final Premier League game of the season at Southampton.

The Uruguay forward has missed the Reds’ last two matches due to a toe injury but could be in contention to feature at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking on Friday morning, Jürgen Klopp also reported news on Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson.

The manager told the media: “He [Nunez] trained yesterday, fully. Ibou was ill yesterday. Robbo felt something in his groin yesterday, he had a scan, that was fine but we anyway have to see how we can deal with that.

“Long-term [injured players] are still out, that’s clear. The rest should be alright.”

I saw some other quote from klopp saying we wont risk anyone, so my guess is robbo won't play and Nunez unlikely.

I wonder if he'll rest the players who will have a big international workload. The Dutch lads for instance are in the finals of that nations league nonsense aren't they? Mo and the south Americans often travel all over. But the internationals don't start for a few weeks, so at least for their body he can create a bit of a resting period before them for some players.

Egypt have one ANC qualifier and then a friendly against South Sudan (might be a good time for an unspecified muscle strain); Colombia and Brazil each have two friendlies in Europe; Uruguay have two friendlies in Montevideo.

Anyway, like you said, it’s a fortnight away.

So if some of them don't play tomorrow it's maybe a 3 week break between competitive games.

I wasn't sure if to put this on the transfer thread or here. This seemed the safer bet.

Thiago misses first session - well apparently unless he wasn't scheduled to come in with his team mates.

Thiago update, Nunez boost and other things spotted in Liverpool training

Probably still unfit from injury towards end of season.

Nothing will change with him this season if he stays and personally i am not arsed if he leaves.

He came in after the others had finished training, so he didn't train.

Just the kids first week, apparently - so Lynders can find some young studs for the first team. Channelling Stacksy is weird.

Not from today - last week was kids. All the players who weren't on international duty we're back today. The internationals back on 11th and 12th July. Then obviously the U21s back some time later.

Could it be that Thiago came in to say his goodbyes?

Where we given a return date when he had his operation?

Can't recall one.

Had a quick look and only found this from early May...

Thiago Alcantara will not play for Liverpool again this season due to requiring surgery on a hip injury.

The decision has been made for the Spaniard to go under the knife and he will therefore be unavailable for Liverpool's remaining matches of the Premier League campaign against Fulham, Brentford, Leicester City, Aston Villa and Southampton.

The 32-year-old has already missed a significant number of games this campaign due to a variety of issues. He spent six weeks on the sidelines after pulling up with a hamstring issue during August's trip to Fulham before being ruled out for two months between February and April due to a hip flexor problem.

By addressing the issue now, Liverpool will hope Thiago is able to make a return to full fitness in time for the start of pre-season on July 8. The Reds are expected to jet out on a European-based camp before tackling the commercial leg of their summer activities in the Far East.

The Spaniard will undergo a minor operation - medical staff will want to take a closer look inside the joint and find out what is causing the problem. No recovery time has been set, but Thiago will likely be out for around six weeks.

Thiago's Liverpool contract expires in the summer of 2024.

That's sounds like they didn't believe he would make it doesn't it. Just time to fuck him off if we can.

I added this too - which found, maybe after you read post.

I have long since been on the get rid bus when it comes to him....quality footballer, but it is like having a flash car that spends most of the time sitting on a ramp in a garage.
