Sort of. Ive got ES File Explorer so I imagine this would be an option to get the apk onto the stick?

Once you've downloaded the .apk then you will definitely be able to locate it in the Dowload folder. ES File Explorer will show you that much.

 

I don't know whether there are any other differences between installing on an Android box compared to a Firestick though. Sorry.

When you open ES File Explorer and go to the DL folder you should see the .apk you've downloaded from the MyStreams.tv site. If you simply click on it to install does that not do the trick ?

Will get back to you at a later time as dont always have access to telly in our house. Wondered if maybe a youtube vid might help go straight to file through ES explorer? Might have a look later.

Just to say that while setting up Smooth Streams and the app,on kodi(through super repo) on laptop and tablet wasnt too bad(honest!) it only actually worked after I set my servers to US. Neither the UK,obviously,nor the Euro ones worked and this was my biggest problem.

I have the option to get apps from google on my firestick but no idea what you mean by override.

 

I downloaded the SmoothStreams apk and installed, but I couldn't get it to run on my Fire TV. The app opens, but then a message comes up saying that you need Google Play. The calendar view shows up but nothing works.

 

You can't get Google Play store on Amazon devices the legit way.

 

Only way is to download apk files (4 seperate files) and install one by one.

 

I did this, but got an error with Google Play.

 

That's why I'm running it via Kodi.

 

I've managed to get Google Play on my Amazon Fire Tablet, where the Smooth Streams apk runs fine.

I am a bit thick when it comes to most stuff kodi wise. I have a paid streaming service on the firestick via kodi to watch sports, but since Saturday it appears those pesky UK service providers have put the mockers on it and blocked it and the only way around it is to install a VPN. 

 

So, any recommendations as to a decent VPN that will work on the firestick and once i have installed it how do then ensure it works on a 1st gen firestick?

No VPN needed with Smooth Streams and setting the server to US. Not difficult to do at all,especially as a moron like me did it.

With all this Kodi stuff there's no need to pay for a VPN.

 

Smoothstreams with all your live stuff is behind a pay wall, and grab Real Debrid for €12 for 6 months and that will also withhold your IP and expedite a shitload of 1080 streams for all your films and TV in Covenant or Terrarium.

 

Save your VPN money and grab go the other route.

You know mate, I'm fairly certain you haven't got the right repo or the latest version of SS. I'm pretty sure SuperRepo has been obsolete for a while. Might explain your server issue?

I downloaded that newer repo last night and smooth streams wasnt working at all on kodi,but all is fine again today. Just a coincidence most likely. Anybody recommend the decent streams within that repo or others?

 

Not sure what you mean mate but if you install Covenant from Colossus repo or Terrarium stand alone app then you'll be covered for all your tv and film streams.

Give that Smash The Gaming Canuck fella a follow on Twatter. Although the guy is a total flaming bellend, his wizard has a stack of dodgy apk Android apps.

 

 

I've been using his Spotify Premium .apk for almost a year, works perfectly and has saved me a tenner a month.

 

Loads of others, like Terrarium ad free etc and all free of charge.

 

I'd post a link but typing this from my telly remote atm, but the detail should be on his Twitter homepage.
