What happened next? Sarah Sims Sunday November 23, 2003 The Observer Name: Peter Carney Date: 15 April 1989 Place: Hillsborough, Sheffield Facts: Peter Carney narrowly avoided being crushed to death during the Hillsborough disaster, when 96 Liverpool fans were killed at the start of their FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest. He now runs a campaign to bring justice for the survivors and the bereaved. All my life I've been an avid Liverpool fan. My wife, Tina, had discovered she was pregnant about 10 days before the Hillsborough disaster and I was about to turn 30. On the day of the match it was beautifully bright and sunny and the stadium was a f…

They don't like you very much on RAOTL, do they? "Thou shall not take Houllier's name in vain" is the basic rule on there, otherwise you have to take them all on.

Greatest European Story Ever Told. ========================= Finally after many months of writing, the above work is now complete. The story is over 100 pages and also includes the lyrics of some of my favourite LFC songs over the last 40 yrs. It's a story covering every game Liverpool FC have played in Europe and includes many humorous fans stories regarding their adventures away from home. WARNING Some of the stories contain colourful language which may not be suitable for children. I do not want to publish in book-form as this will only take money away from HJC. To keep costs down and maximise profits for HJC, I will forward e-mail attachment in either wp…

Footballer Charged over Death Crash By Owen Fairclough, PA News West Bromwich Albion striker Lee Hughes was charged tonight with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident following a car crash in which a 56-year-old man died. The player will appear before Coventry Magistrates Court tomorrow where he will face the two allegations. Hughes, 27, was arrested yesterday following a collision in Meriden, West Midlands, in which Douglas Graham, a passenger in another car, was killed. This is a tragic accident and I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but if Lee Hughes has crashed and just sped off I hope they t…

Sad news: Old forum content probably unrecoverable...

Hey there. Some sad news, unfortunately: The rescue of the old forum content failed, and I had to restore the new forum from backup. The problem is that the database format between vBulletin (this forum) and Phorum (the old forum) is very different, and while I believe I *can* program a replacement, it's going to take me the best part of a week, and I can't afford to take a week doing it right now. I did hear that someone has already programmed a conversion script for an older version of Phorum, though. If I manage to adapt that one to our old forum, then we'll have imported forums next week. If not: Sigh your sighs and cry your goodbyes. Sorry Haje

From the club website: 23 November 2003 : by Steve Hunter Houllier proud of achievements Gerard Houllier has spoken about how proud he is of his achievements at Anfield taking Liverpool into the Champions League and winning six trophies, and admits he finds criticism of himself strange. Houllier said he doesn't understand why he has come under criticism from fans and pundits alike and says he has a better success record than Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Houllier said: "Liverpool has really been my team for four years and in that time we've won six trophies - that's more than Alex Ferguson won over a similar period when he arrived at Manche…

Why does our squad (which on paper looks at least the equal of any squad in England) consistently underperform in the League? In my view, there are two possible answers: 1.The manager is not getting the best out of them either tactically or in terms of motivation 2.There are too many players who do not have the grit and determination to be winners I don't want another GH debate on this thread because we have those ten times a week so can we just discuss mental toughness because I'm starting to think that we just don't seem to have that certain something which enables the Mancs and the Arse to turn a bad display into 3 points or to field some pretty ropey second-stringers…

What do people think of this? I've no doubt that Kirkland is the future and perhaps he is better and should be given a run. But I think the timing of it was a bit off. Boro was the start of Dudek's bad run last year and it'd have been nice for him to have gone back there and put in a good performance. Considering Houllier didnt blame Dudek for the united defeat and also spoke in the Express on Saturday morning of how he had done so well in the last 2 Poland games its all a bit bizarre. Perhaps he feels he has to play Kirkland as he'll be off otherwise.

Hello people. Anyone here able to give me a pub that always shows the reds on the Norwegian channels? I live just off London Road so I'm talking city centre. I did use JR's but when I went in on Saturday the barman said it'd been scrambled. Think it was a blessin in disguise this week really.

Just heard this from the echo. So what now for right back? Give Otsemobor a run, or see if Henchoz slots in there or (even worse) Diao or Biscan?

He sure knows how to keep us excited. Got this from LFC ONLINE Houllier said: "Liverpool has really been my team for four years and in that time we've won six trophies - that's more than Alex Ferguson won over a similar period when he arrived at Manchester United. "I don't understand where the problem is. We've been in the Champions League twice, we've improved our training centre, we have renovated Anfield and now we hope to obtain a building licence for our new stadium. "I have done a lot for this club and I'm proud of what I have accomplished because at the beginning there weren't many big names in this team. "There were some quality players who, un…

Why is there so much fuss about this man? All he has to do to score is kick the ball between the posts. It doesn't matter how high he kicks it and there's no goalkeeper. Even our Emile could manage that.

I keep hearing different things about which forum you guys like.. This poll is important, as it might affect what forum Dave and Chris decide we go for, if and when I manage to fix the other forum. If you have reasons for voting, post them in this thread, so we keep it a bit together, yes? Cheerio -haje

Fifty one years ago Liverpool gained promotion to the 1st Division after a frustrating eight year spell in the second tier that saw the team go close but not close enough on several occasions. That period was marred by a string of signings who were adequate at best, a club record defeat, a humiliating FA Cup exit and a Board who seemed content to just plod along. After surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth in May 1953, a last day win over Chelsea keeping them up, the Reds hit the bottom the week before Christmas and were never off it. A 1-0 home defeat by Cardiff on Easter Saturday 1954 confirmed the drop with two games still to play and away fo…

The original idea of 'Britain's Bitterest’ was for just a small column type piece per issue running down one side of the page. But where Joe Royle’s involved that’s just not possible. Big Fat Head, as he’s commonly known, is probably the most bitter ex Blue you could ever come across. Therefore for this issue only, Britain’s Bitterest has actually turned into a full blown article. Considering Royle was never beaten by Liverpool whilst he was manager of Everton and won an FA Cup to our League Cup while he was in charge, you’d wonder what all the fuss was about. To find the truth you need to go back to his earlier days as a teenage fan and then a player, when his experi…

Liverpool starting line (all4 of them). We are not that good that we can carry 4 shit players. I dispair, Houllier's favourtism knows no bounds. Morale must be high with Hamann, Riise, Henchoz, Pongolle, Welsh and the rest. What do these boys have to do to get dropped? If we win it will be despite Houllier.
