The Shawshank Redemption

I have no idea to this day what that Uraguayan was doing. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think he was doing something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, he soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last red in Craven Cottage felt free.

When I think of the king in charge I find I'm so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a reds fan can feel, a reds fan at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it through the summer. I hope to see my hero in charge again and watch him win. I hope winning the league again feels as good as it has in my dreams. I hope.

I saw an interview with Tim Robins, who said that at first the film went straight onto DVD, so it wasn't hugely popular. However people would come up to him to him having seen it - but they couldn't quite understand or remember the title - they just remembered that it was great. One of them said something like "Hey, I saw that prison film you were in. It was great - The Sheepshank Reduction!".

I've watched this film more often than any other, I've read the Stephen King short story more than any other too, (read it last week in fact)

It just doesn't get any better than this.
