Seen that the guardian are saying Wayne Bridge is one of the targets for left back to go with many others linked. Do wonder if thats what Cole was talking about when in his first interview he said he wanted to play with players already here but also the players were looking at. Wonder if Bridge is one (obviously knew him from his chelsea days) but arent we going down ex chelsea players? Not complaining because they have vast experience and would slip into the side nicely. See what happens though.

Bridge won't happen. He's an average left back on stupid wages and even if he drops out of the first team there he seems the type to just sit off and collect his wage.

Cant help feel for the lad because he was once a cracking left back but he made his bed by choosing to be second fiddle to Cole for a couple of years and then led onto his injuries since then he never did much. Never come across as a player hungry for success and being as successful a footballer can be but thats just my opinion.

Got no real sympathy for him, to be honest. He chose to sit off on the bench at Chelsea because he knew he was guarenteed a wage that was beyond his abilities, and then he only moved to a team who bettered those already stupid wages. A team that he probably knew could jus as easily go out and get someone far better than him; but that won't biother him as long as the money keeps coming.

Yeah my sympathy kind of came in the form of personal issues (they are self explanatory!!!) but footballing wise i agree with you. He never really came across as just wanting to play football rather just getting his wages.

You make it sound like he had something really traumatic happen to him, like his entire family wiped out by a volcano. His missus was bummed by John Terry. I'd just be glad as it is an acid test of seeing whether a woman is playing with a full deck. She obviously wasn't. He's a fucking wimp. "that nasty man kissed my girlfriend". Fuck off.

West Ham are in pole position to sign Nice striker Loic Remy after making their improved £13m bid.

The 23-year-old has attracted interest from a host of clubs but Nice's general manager Patrick Governatori said: 'We received a new offer from West Ham which seems good and suits us. If Liverpool want him, we need clear arrangements and commitments.'

Manager's first moves: ruthless and realistic - Premier League, Football - The Independent

Wayne Bridge is not the best left-back in England but he is more consistent than Insua and as good as Fabio Aurelio and, if Manchester City are spending £17m to bring Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio, he would very quickly become a bit-part player at Eastlands.

Meanwhile, the extras in Benitez's productions are being moved off stage. Albert Riera, who called Liverpool "a sinking ship" in March, will join Olympiakos for a fee of around £4m in the next few days. Sotirios Kyrgiakos, a bargain basement buy from AEK Athens, is likely to follow him to Greece.

On the other side, Peter Crouch may be persuaded back to Merseyside or Hodgson could invest £12.5m in Loic Remy, a 23-year-old who scored 14 times in Le Championnat last season and who is rated by his club, Nice, as a striker with the pace and potential of a Thierry Henry or a Nicolas Anelka.

Nevertheless, despite Hodgson's assurances that it was perfectly normal for Javier Mascherano not to return his calls, it seems extremely unlikely that the captain of Argentina will be protecting the back four when Liverpool's season begins against Arsenal. His agent, Walter Tamar, has talked of the "magical taste" of a reunion with Benitez at the new European champions, Internazionale.

Apparently, there's one on RAWK if you're that way inclined.

The Rawk one is docterd to suit there agenda, do people really think Maxi, Jovanivic and Joe Cole were free, they may have been Bosmans, but when you take into account the apparent £1-2m each in sign ons Degen and Voronin got, the 3 players i mentioned are worth alot more certinley over £20m worth on the transfer market, so I'd say they got decent sign in fees, probably around £8-9m in total.

All players get signing on fees, particularly if they haven't put in a written transfer request.

Facts are we have spent nothing on transfers.

We have brought in close to ten million this past week for Insua and Riera, we have sold Yossie for 6 and San Jose for 3, so that should be close to twenty million, on top of the 10-15 million in the kitty as it stands, so why are we not able to afford the money for Remi?

Hodgson plans to use El Zhar and Plessis as makeweights to bring Remy to Anfield

The chase for Nice striker Loic Remy continues, with Liverpool hoping that the French club will accept a player-swap deal in order to beat West Ham's £13m bid for the striker.

23-year-old Remy scored 14 goals last season for Nice, having enjoyed a successful campaign the year before, too. He has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, due to his lightening pace.

West Ham are thought to be leading the chase for Remy, having increased their bid to £13m and Hammers' chief David Gold has reportedly indicated that much of the fee will be paid up front, which had been a sticking point.

Nice certainly appear open to hearing a counter-offer from Liverpool, with their general manager Patrick Governatori having said, "We received a new offer from West Ham which seems good and suits us. If Liverpool want him, we need clear arrangements and commitments."

The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool cannot top West Ham's cash offer, but that Anfield boss Roy Hodgson is prepared to offer attacker Nabil El Zhar and midfielder Damien Plessis as part of a deal for the French striker.

So are you trying to say a player we buy for say £5m is gona get a £2/3m sign on fee, do you think danny Wilson will get a big sign on fee no he wont, thats rubbish, the fee they get if they dont ask for a transfer is 5-10% of the fee from the selling club.

As far as i'm concerned if we had to give Joe Cole Maxi, Jovanivic £3m a piece in sign ons thats a transfer fee and good Buisness as they'd be worth alot more in the market.

San Jose money went on Danny Wilson, and the Yossi money went to Rafa and Fulham, load of bollocks I know but thats were it went.

Regarding Remy who says we cant Alan Nixon a cunt amongst humanity? who even said we were in for him, the only person thats talking is his agent.
