Victories breeds confidence and a chance of winning a trophy in a shite season will give the lads a lift.

 

There is some very good teams left in the competition and it won't be easy to win but hopefully the players will rise to the challenge.

 

The lads have had too much feeling sorry for themselves this season and a good cup run is just what we need.

 

Looking at our fixtures we have left and if we don't finish fourth then in all fairness it won't be through bad luck it will be through the fact we don't deserve to be there.

I think this tournament will give us a chance to gain some momentum in the league. But it could prove to be a bit of a distraction if we make the latter stages.

 

Also, we budget to get to the CL quarter finals every season and the only way we can match that, is by reaching the final of the Europa League at least.

Strangely enough, according to THE KOP magazine, every time we have won the UEFA Cup we have qualified for the European Cup that season, but every time ( bar Ged H's last season ) we have been in the UEFA Cup but not won it we have not qualified for the European Cup.
