Everton sold Arteta to Arsenal right at the end of the summer transfer window and then said that they didn't have any money to spend in January , which is why Everton fans started questioning what had happened to the money they had got for the sale of Arteta.

It turned out that a percentage of it went to Arteta's former club and most of the rest of it was used to pay off debts and over expenditure in other areas, rather than being used to reinvest on new players.

Netflix would do well to make 6 episodes out that tale. The one that ends will Bill taking the money to the grave would be a better watch.

The right thing to do even though we’ll be accused of making it all about ourselves again.

More than likely, but if they can't see the regard he was held in for being a thoroughly decent man who cared enough about his fellow Scousers and the injustices endured fuck them.

RIP Bill.

Bill was one of those great blues. There are still a lot of them, but less and less by the day. Remember him telling the story about how Everton joy of making the Cup Final turned to heartache when word filtered out about what was unfolding in Sheffield as Evertonians were worried about family members and friends. Heard him saying the toughest of Bluenoses were breaking down. Captured what the rivalry was back then and showed the kind of man that Bill was.

He dreamt of Everton returning to competing for titles and cups. The football landscape changed and he and others made bad footballing decisions. However, he loved that club and those knobheads that gave him abuse should be ashamed of themselves.

Rest in peace to a great human being.
