I promise I’m not trying to be a smart arse but If you’re saying we need eight midfielders outside of Ox for the three positions, then you need to add Curtis Jones and count midfielders you’ve listed properly, there’s your eight.

Also, Milner is not 37 until 2023.

To be fair he is closer to 37 than he is 36

Wonder if Newcastle will sniff around any of our squad players. Could do a lot worse, would potentially help them with their next stage of development.

We only really have Keita, Chamberlain, Phillips and possibly Gomez who we'd let go if the price was right, obviously replacements pending.

That's how good a job the recruitment team have done over the past few years.

That fella has put in a transfer request now hasn't he?

Apparently so, although the article states it’s not changed Brighton’s position - £50m or piss off.

Its almost as if Brighton know City have form for paying that amount for players in those positions.

If you're including Gomez, you may as well throw Bobby in there as well.

If Naby doesn't sign an extension and Newcastle offered £15-25m I would look at that deal.

Worth more than that....and we can't afford to sell him without a replacement either.

He's staying - of that i am 100% sure.

For me we are done in this window.

Well Jurgen did say if someone left then we would be active and if they offered maybe £30-40m it may be interesting to see what happens.

But yes, in reality, I think you are most likely right really and he will be staying.

Looks like we're heading into a more considered 'Zidanes y Pavones' era.

So game changing signings supplemented by signings of top quality youngsters like Gordon, Elliot, Carvalho over squad fillers.

The problem with the idea of not going for "squad fillers" is it's easy to look at the ones that haven't really worked like Shaq and minamino. But you could probably chuck matip and robbo into that, who've been great (aside from matips injury record). I don't think it should ever really be about these fixed ideas. If you need a squad filler, get one. If you don't, don't. It's like this "everyone must be under 25". No, buy what the team needs.

Did they mention why Kelleher didn’t play yesterday? Seen rumours last week that he was going to Leicester to replace schmeichal but seen  nothing since

Groin injury, which is a shame for him as he would have played yesterday. Himself and Alisson are a fantastic first choice and deputy, but they miss a ridiculous amount of games through injury.
