I don’t know by what reasonable scale he can be judged as better, as he has a long way to go to show he can make the step up. At 21, he has zero top flight appearances, where as Grey has 80, including experience in a Premier League winning side. Gray would cost quite a bit, I agree, but the potential to be very special is there. I’m expecting him to develop into an excellent player over the next couple of seasons. Wilson... let’s see what his Premier League debut is like, if he ever gets one.

Its the scale in my head where I have watched a lot of Harry Wilson, and think he's great, and the little I've seen of Gray not being very impressed at all and wondering what all the fuss is about, and his goal record is pretty shit at that. As a keen fan of youth football, I am fully aware that it can take some time for young players to fully develop though, so he could well kick on, and lots of people seem to like him.

Obviously if you look at the records of the 2, Gray is miles ahead at the moment, but for the amount we'd have to spend, I'm not sure if we'd be getting that much of an upgrade, if one at all.

Sorry to get all technical on yo ass!

I mean, you're wrong on your view of years of negative net spend, its been positive every year (averaging over £40m per year) up until this one where we've got a massive fee for Coutinho, but this did make me laugh.

They could win the double, like we did the last time we hired a manager with no managerial experience.

Very different era. And a very different club. Dalglish was also advised by a managerial great, was he not? And he was still a player of quality who could influence matters directly on the pitch.

Just looking at some highlights of Fekir, which I try and stop myself from doing until we've signed the player, but what I'm noticing is despite clearly having very good technique and dribbling skills, he has that same ability as Kenny and also Suarez to use his arse to shield and bump fuckers off the ball. He's actively physical when protecting the ball and has bulk on him. Think his dribbling style is perfect in terms of translating to the EPL. Really hope the rumours are spot on with this one. Name also fits perfectly too.

So my original estimate of being lucky to see a net spend of £50m as opposed to £200m would be in a more realistic ball park and the accumalitive net spend was showing as a negative, the only one in the top 6.

Don't get me wrong it was a flippant and tongue in cheek remark and I don't actually care if we blow £60m on Fekir or £10m on Coric as long as we meet the needs of the squad and the manager is backed. FSG will look at the current model as a largely successful one and I don't see why they would suddenly change tracks and throw money around.

Crazy from Arsenal to go for Arteta if they do, no idea what they're playing at. If they don't nick top 4 next season I see them going on a downward spiral like we did, 2 years of not being a top 4 team can easily become 6-7 like it did for us.
