How do you think we'll line up this coming season?

------------Karius--------------

Clyne--Matip---Lovren--Moreno

-------Can-----Wijnaldum-----

Mane-----Firmino------Coutinho

----------Origi------------

Henderson and Milner will play plenty of games in midfield, but if we go 4-2-3-1, I think this is our best line-up and how we will start games if everyone is fit.

Still think Coutinho is the weak link, but happy to be proven wrong this season. That said, this season is the biggest of his career, and will define what level he goes on to be.

His league goal return has increased each season he's been at the club (3,5,5,8), and if he can push that to 10 this season then we've got a player. If he drops, then I think he's questionable as a starter for an attacking position.

But last season for example, these were the dates on which he scored league goals:

9 August

31 October (2)

8 November

21 November

20 March

2 April

20 April

By the time he scored in our loss to Southampton on 20 March, our season was basically over.

When it mattered, between August and February, he scored 5. That's not enough for a side with ambitions of challenging for things.

If Coutinho really was our weak link we would be pissing the league, but he isn't. Especially when we have Moreno in the side.

And, the points you made above could also be levelled at Mane and Wijnaldum. 8 of Mane's goals came in the last eight games of the season, didn't score a single goal in the three months prior to that. As for Wijnaldum, 4 of his goals came in a single game against Norwich with another 2 in the last game of the season against spurs when the barcodes were already relegated.

But neither were playing in a side with the likes of Sturridge, or Suarez, but I take your point and I don't disagree that both Wijnaldum and Mane also need to show improvements in scoring rates.

But also, both Mane and Wijnaldum have only had one season in the PL, whereas Coutinho has now had 4.

We will see, but the fact remains that the likes of Payet, Mahrez, Willian, etc are the standard bearers for the top sides in attacking positions, and we need to at least match them if we are to get near them.
