I love Berahino, but his agent is Aidy Ward.

We won't be dealing with that six-fingered shithouse if we can help it.

Surely we gotta be pragmatic and use his cuntery against West Brom. He could for example call Zoltan Gera a knob for starters.

The thing with Benteke is, attacking crosses is what he bases PART of his game on. Even if 1 goal out of 5 or 6 or 7 he scores is a header, that's still a percentage of his goal production that may be eliminated if he plays for a team that has players that have no fucking clue how to cross a ball properly. A team that doesn't even cross it as much as other teams in the first place.

This doesn't even include any deliveries into the box he got on the end of to set other people up to score, so it could be even more of his attacking qualities that are affected. Playing against him, defenders should have to worry about the threat of the cross, even if you chose not to cross as much as Villa, you still need to have the threat of players who can deliver an excellent cross to make him and the team more effective. If we don't have that, the opposition will just sit deep, clog the middle, and let us cross it all day, and in response they'll head the ball away all day too.

Paying a huge fee for a player who will have some of his effectiveness taken away from him as soon as he signs seems risky, based on the players we have right now.

Having said all that, he is a good player and has other attributes which are useful, he's a quality finisher, can score from close or long range, he's physical, good with layoffs, flicks etc.

We've got players that can cross the ball. Henderson loves to put a ball in from deep, Clyne has a good delivery, I'm sure if we encourage Moreno and Coutinho to stick one in from time to time benteke would have plenty of service.

Andy Carroll can win headers and kick the ball really hard with his left foot and do almost nothing else well. Statistically he's miles behind Benteke in terms of shot accuracy, pass completion, successful dribbles etc and I've watched enough of both to conclude Benteke is by far the more well rounded player.

Again, he wouldn't be my choice of striker but if I accept we're not going to be signing anyone from the top bracket (or arguably even the one below it) then I'd take him over a Rondon or a Bacca.

Fair enough, I do like him as a player, we clearly want him so let's get it done and hope we get the best out of him.

Nothing specific, just standard caution that he might not adjust to the culture or to the physicality of some opposition defences.

Leaving aside the ridiculous price, do you see any merit in us bringing in Benteke?

Bacca is South American, he'll have faced plenty of properly alehouse defenders before.

I worry about Benteke being "the main man". I said a couple of days ago I think he'll always been second or third choice at a club that challenges for trophies, or first choice at a mid table club. My concern is making him the main man when he's never played for a decent team in a decent league, nor ever played for a team that tries to play progressive football. I also worry that our manager will struggle to make the necessary changes to both get the best out of him, and make that best good enough for the team.

That said, he's obviously quite a good player. I just think there are many better options.

Maybe the idea behind acquiring Milner and Clyne for us to be a better crossing team?

I'm not a fan of Benteke but i'm a less of a fan of Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market. Last summer it was Lallana and Lovren he was pushing hard for and he never knew what to do with Lallana and thought Lovren was going to be our leader. His first summer it was Joe Allen's going to be Xavi and Borini's going to excite the fans. How can anyone trust his judgement? He thinks if he buys Premier League proven they can slot straight in but not if he doesn't know how to use them.

Get Lacazette or Aubemeyang for that kind of money.

Neither. Hijack Tevez's supposed deal with Boca or get Morata instead please.

I love Tevez, I wanted us to sign the mental little fucker when he left West Ham and was gutted that we didn't, but he's 31 now and apparently wants to go home.  I think the time for that deal has passed really.

I wouldn't take Bacca for more then 15m, I've seen him quite a few times and have never been overly impressed.

Villa can fuck off if they stick to their valuation of 30m or more for Benteke but I'd take him for 25m, he offers something different to our other strikers and will help in games where teams park the bus.

Seems a bit pricey for that, no? Isn't that what we bought Lambert for?

I'd say it's fair for someone who has a 1 in 2 record in the prem over three seasons, Lambert was a terrible signing and I saw a stat today that last season he completed one dribble while Mignolet completed two.

The more I think about it I'm sure we will get a target man as if we got another pacey forward in I could only see us playing one up front which would mean three strikers on the bench, I can't see that being the plan.

Benteke is expensive but he might be exactly what we need. In his case the Drogba comparisons might actually be a bit more than hyperbole. He often looks completely unplayable.

That he's only of value in the air simply isn't true. He scores all types of goals.

And if we sign him we might beat Villa next season.

I've seen Bacca play a few times, he's impressive but his age and suitability to the English game are a concern at the price being quoted.

What's Rondon like?

It's rubbery, especially at this time of year.  You might even catch a glimpse of the queen at Buckingham Palace.
