It's like someone had the mad (stoned?) idea "Wouldn't it be funny to do all the cheesy old American folk songs - like Oh Susannah and She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain - in the style of Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

 

Only, it was Neil Young & Crazy Horse who had the idea.

From some Festival in New York last night. Really liking Walk like a Giant and already pre-ordered his new book..

 

 

 

Neil Young's new book, Waging Heavy Peace, isn't a traditional rock memoir. Written throughout 2011, it addresses everything from the recent Crazy Horse reunion back to the formation of Buffalo Springfield – but it's presented in a completely non-linear way. Young also stops the narrative from time to time to complain about the audio quality of MP3s and go into detail about his ongoing electric car project. The end result is a glimpse right into Young's brain. It also contains tons of unseen personal photographs

We have a saying in my band. When we're playing a biig venue with a big crowd and the nerves kick in. When doubt start to creep in. Whether our new material will go down with fans. We ask ourselves.

 

"What would Neil Young do?"

 

Then we go and do what the fuck we want and don't give a shit. Just like the big man himself!
