Probably makes for a better series.

Be interesting to see the team selection for the second test.

Root (assuming he’s available) and maybe Broad for Wood. I guess any bowling change might depend on the conditions and whether Anderson is healthy enough for back to back Tests.

Interesting Test match, both sides showing that they have problems with the bat, the Windies just have a better bowling attack than England, not a great decision to bat first weither, played into their strengths from the off.

Full 13 man squad -

Joe Root (Yorkshire) captain, Jofra Archer (Sussex), Dominic Bess (Somerset), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Rory Burns (Surrey) Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Sam Curran (Surrey), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Dom Sibley (Warwickshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).

I'd leave out Buttler and Robinson.

Burns

Sibley

Root

Crawley

Stokes

Pope

Woakes

Bess

Curran

Archer

Broad

Ha ha , but in reality he isnt in the 13 , Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson ( Dont know much about him ) are , so presumably Root in at 4 , Crawley moving up one , Broad and one of Woakes/Curran/Robinson in place of Jimmy and Wood

I think they have to look at Foakes if Buttler is as woeful as he has been

Yeah, just messing. I liked Foakes, didn't get why he was dropped.

Edit- ah, it was because that blert Bairstow came back.

Is it supposed to be the sort of pitch where we need six bowlers?

Me neither , I like Jos but he has had a hundred chances and Foakes has been treated very shoddily.

Yeah, Foakes was dumped quicker than one of Johnsons partners.

Butler is not and never will be a test cricketer

He's not even a great wicketkeeper. He's just one of those names they seem desperate not to drop, one of the boys in that inner circle.

Archer out for breaches of isolation protocols. Apparently he went home to Brighton, twice, between the two tests.

Foolish thing to do, he'll have to take it on the chin and come back fighting to regain his place.

Play to start at 12:30 BST. Alastair Cook just took a look at the pitch (albeit from a distance) and says it looks like a road and won't be seamer friendly.
