Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is lining up a £5million bid for Stoke defender Robert Huth.

Hodgson will test Stoke's resolve to keep Germany international Huth with an offer in the New Year as he bids to solve a defensive crisis.

Liverpool will be without Jamie Carragher until February while Daniel Agger has struggled for most of the season with a calf problem.

And Huth - who is nicknamed the Berlin Wall - will be targeted to strengthen the foundations of Hodgson's back line.

The 26-year-old has impressed at the Britannia Stadium since a £6m move from Middlesbrough last year.

Hodgson has been a long-term admirer of the former Chelsea star and is preparing a bid next month

My calendar is wrong. Mine says it Christmas Eve, but it's surely April Fools Day.

Not even a well made up story. Bought for £6m now getting sold for £5m to a bigger club. Must try harder.

Martin Demichelis just got loaned out to Malaga (they can buy him for 3M€ after the season) but he's been kind of a off for the last 2 seasons anyway.

They need a centreback more than we do. They've got the worst defensive record in La Liga. Astute signing by Pellegrini.

Not one mention of the broken collarbone he sustained in the match at Anfield against us, where he "failed to net".

To be fair, he was meet with a quality and stubborn defensive showing from us. It's hard for a young kid to do well when the opposition are that deep.

Liverpool are in talks with Inter Milan over young right back Davide Santon .

And according to itasportpress, after an initial €10 million bid was rejected by Inter, Liverpool have now offered to throw in Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt as part of the deal.

19-year-old Santon is a multi-skilled full-back, who can also play on both flanks or in central midfield.

He is tall and strong, while also possessing good pace and excellent technical ability. He can use either foot to cross, pass and shoot.

He has already won six caps for Italy and is deemed a hot prospect for the national team.

Santon, who has also been linked with Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea, is contracted to Inter Milan until 2014.

Just when it sounds a little bit plausable, it's turns into utter shite.
