Left back - can't have Insua as first choice next season.

Back up striker - can't have Ngog as back up to Torres next season.

Then he should look to upgrade left wing - as Babel and Riera haven't cut the mustard.

If he needs to replace Mascherano, then that will also have to be sorted.

This. On the back up striker, maybe a different type of striker to nando so we can play two up front on occasions. Saying that, i think Kuyt will partner him on occasions.

Forward. Without a doubt.

I'm hoping that out with the last coach goes the insane 4-2-3-1 madness. We need 2 men upfront almost every week. Don't care how it's done, just as long as it is. It will get rid of the sterile stuff we've had to endure for the last few years, and allow SG to move back to centre midfield, his specialist position.

Then we might make some headway in this league.

LB, Striker and attacking midfielder.

I was thinking of Fucile, just like Red Phoenix, but Martín Cáceres could suit that role too and will probably be cheaper. Plus he can play on left back, right back and as defensive midfielder. Those are our cheap options, excluding the likes of Cissokho, Bastos, ..

Attacking midfielder. Probably Scott Parker. As for the striker.. the only name that comes to mind, that fits into our limited options of being skint, is Alex Sanchez.

Fucile is a good shout, also Alvaro Pereira is pretty decent. Scott Parker is more of a defensive/central midfielder rather than an attacking midfielder and Alexis Sanchez iis a natural right winger but can play as a striker, but I'm guessing Udinese won't sell him for anything less than 15M. As for our left wing I wouldn't be too dissapointed with Cristian Rodriguez from Porto, he always impressed me whenever I watched them.

I'd be more than happy if we kept what we had and just got in a LB and striker.

I'm with you NJ ,

Assuming the big 3 stay, Jovanovic means we can cash in on Babel and/or Riera and use this money plus the alleged £15m and monies from other peripheral players like Cavalry & Degen on the 2 spots you have mentioned.

Buying Salcido for @ £4m would leave us a minimum of £18m for the forward.

Left back should be the top priority.

After that we need a striker to complement Torres as the step down to N'Gog is too great (eggnog can then go out on loan to West Brom or wherever, and if he proves to be a world beater, bring him back; if he proves to be so-so, sell him for a decent profit.

After sorting a left back and a striker, it would remain to be seen what happens with other players who may or may not leave before saying what is the next priority.

A left back is a priority no doubt about that, but i still think we need to get a player in the mould of alonso, as most top teams have a player that can distribute the ball from deep positions, that is if we want to continue with using the 4231, so a defensive midfielder for me.

In so far as I see many of last seasons problems being the result of either injury or the players' declining belief in Rafa, I agree that we shouldn't need too many new players. However, I also think that we should seriously reduce the number of players over the age of 21 on big wages. The squad is littered with dross that never plays and only serves to drain the wages account and block the development of youngsters.

That said, I also think we need more than two new players simply to give the place a lift. We need an injection of a fresh mentality to shake things up a bit more than simply thinning the squad and signing a left back and striker would achieve. In terms of positions, central midfield was a problem last season in the aftermath of Xabi's departure, but it could be even worse when Mascherano goes if we don't bring at least one player in. Of the two, I'd definitely go for someone closer to the former than the latter in playing style though, because we desperately need some composure and ability on the ball in the middle of the pitch.

I dont know why I voted. We need players for a few positions or risk being exposed.

Central Midfield- Before any sales we need a player who can create. With Mascherano going we will also need to replace him.

Left Back- Problem position last season. Aurelio going means we need a first choice replacement. Keep Insua as cover.

Right Back- Hopefully Kelly can perform a job as Glen Johnson's understudy. If there are any doubts over his ability to do that we need to sign cover.

Attacking player- Somebody who can play in an advanced position and give Torres and Jovanovich some much needed competition and support.

We need:

- A quality left back (I'm stuck to be honest)

- A dominant centre half (if the rumours of Sami coming back as a coach are true then see if he wants a year and see if we can get Shawcross when the parasites sell up)

- An attacking midfielder, possibly two, who can comfortably play both sides. (Joe Cole)

- A striker to play alongside/back up to Torres (Bellamy can play out wide as well, he'd be my choice, if we could afford it, which we can't, Crouch as well)

All conjecture though - we haven't got a pot to piss in.
