Would be wrong to put Meireles and Lucas on the bench! They have been brilliant.

--------Adam-----Lucas------

Gerrard------Meireles---Suarez

-------------Torres-----------

Gerrard scored 23 goals as a right winger. Just sayin'

Brilliant ?

Are you sure you are sane ?

Brilliant is what Xabi and Mascherano were for us.

Red Nick - You posted earlier (1.25 I believe?)"Lucas is simply not good enough and we need a player in the Xabi or Mascher class to replace him for next season".

With all due respect - you are I believe on this Wrong with a capital W. Lucas isn't good enough in a RAFA style system where we have a specialist 'quarterback' style holding midfielder and a tackling dervish/ball winning specialist extrordinaire ala what Mascherano was as he's not good enough on his own to fulfil either of those roles, never mind Both of them as some of us seem to think he was bought to. However, in a TEAM that play similarly to what Xabi did? I.e. an entire Side who play pass and move/5 a side style Football through Every player? Which coincidentally just so happens to be A) What Rafa' was leading towards in his eventual development of our team B) What Kenny is Trying to institute in our badly mishandled (by Woy) squad now and C) What Lucas himself was raised on back in Brazil during his early years as a footballer?

Well in that case you couldn't be more wrong - He fits Perfectly in such a case and is only beginning to show us what he can do now (yesterday, v Chelsea, West Ham and Aston Villa this season along with West Ham away and the Mancs at home Last season being cases in point). I believe that from Lucas? His best is yet to come but the system Kenny is now using? WILL bring out that best - you can bank on it - I suspect young master Lucas has more than a few surprises up his sleeves in the months to come now that we're playing a SYSTEM he's used to and was virtually REARED on as a footballer. In fact I'd put money on it............................

You don't believe me? Then look around the Internet for reports on Lucas written, spoken or videoed when we bought him (Usually by the South American Soccer Expert Tim Vickery) and videos OF him playing back in Brazil Before we bought him - You might be pleasantly surprised by what you see - You see the thing is WE the fans have all got it wrong - He was never bought as a Xabi style 'deep' quarterback midfielder Or a Mascher' style ball winning rottweiler -Never mind a combination of the two - Lucas was and always has been an ATTACKING midfielder and a ball Passer who functions best in a team of ball Passing players - Again, see his early days for proof - The best way I can describe him is as a form of South American Frank Lampard or Emanuel Petit at their best and we all know how well They turned out no?

Basically, You're not going to see the best of such a player if they're stranded deep in midfield where they can't influence the game or tackling when they're not brilliant at it however much they improve that stat' by being played out of position are you? No, you'll see the best of him when he's played Consistently further forwards where he can really HURT other teams backlines and cause sheer havoc and utter panic with his forward runs - Yesterday being a case in point. Raul Meireles is his perfect partner in such a case as HE to is a similar sort of player to Lucas and it's no coincidence we've seen the best of HIM in recent games deployed that way either is it? Think Chelsea last year and a few years back (06/07?) When they played Lampard and Ballack going forward as identikit attacking midfielder with either Obi Mikel or Makelele behind them and Drogba in front of them and you'll be close to the formation I think Kenny is trying to implement in order to bring the best out of his available resources that we first saw last week and which was more pronounced in the game yesterday. As time goes on we'll improve in that formation and DESTROY some teams if yesterday and Chelsea's success with that formation was anything to go by along with Kenny's past success with us using a similar system. Put it this way, I wouldn't want to be in our opponent's boots once we've perfected it, and we WILL perfect it - Mark my words....................................

NB Put simply, It's not Lucas' fault if successive managers have either misused him deliberately or misread his best position/function is it? Fortunately in Kenny we now have a manager astute enough to recognise the TYPE of player Lucas is and WHERE to use him in order to consistently bring out the best of him as that player - It may take a while since he's now a little rusty in his best position due to the above mentioned misuse but his best WILL come and I'd put money on it coming while Kenny Dalglish is his manager ...............

Good POST

Thank you PSEatmyshorts but do you know WHY I recognise that formation? And I recognised it immediately actually as most people my age Would. Why? Well, that's because it's VERY identifiable to Liverpool fans of a certain age range; Reason being because it is exactly THE Formation that our current manager used to win us our last League Title Waaay back in 1990. A portent of things to come perhaps? Who knows? We'll find out soon enough I expect but we can always hope................

I'd like us to sign Suarez I can see it happening, I just think we leave things to late in the day we always have it gets to the last few days of the window when we expect there prices to drop and we end up not buying them when they haven't just look at what happened with the like of Alves, Barry, and Simao we ended up leaving them and buying cheaper less talented players that didn't really improve the team and got moved on for a loss.

That is a very good post mate, i`ve got a lot of time for the lad, he works hard, never stops running and has a lot of talent, boys like geoff strong, ronnie whelan and the like wer`nt world stars but they always worked for the team, as lucas does,.Its about time he stopped being the fashionable whipping boy and got the support that he deserves.

We can't do that this time, Ajax have made it clear they need time to find a replacement.

yeah hopefully it will kick us into gear and we will stop taking the piss with way to low valuations trying to shave of a couple of million we're doing to same with the Adam deal and if we carry on offering too little for players that teams don't want to sell then we will have gone through a 5 transfer window in a row without improvement.

Redshaddow you may be right you maybe wrong however I am pretty convinced there are better players out there who would benefit the team far more than Lucas.

Its that simple, I dont care what system you play If Lucas plays in your starting 11 you wont be winning anything soon.

Football is generally sum of your parts though. Some of the players that have played a lot in title winning sides make Lucas look world class. If he can do a job balancing out the attacking freedom that Meireles and Gerrard might get then that's sound with me.

I wouldn't quite say that he's a decent player no doubt and over the last couple of season I'd say he has improved at a faster rate than anyone else in our squad in fact I'd say that last season he was one of the best players we had.

Also I'v always been a firm believer that it isn't who's in your first team it's how they play together you know the old Cliché greater than the some of it's parts, take united for example on paper they have some pretty average regulars and an average age of about 30 but they will still most probably go on to win the league because individual performances don't matter it's all about the collective.

He's not your "homie", it's a picture of a big, black man, you've copied from the internet.

Hahaha mate! I tell you it's true. He's not my homie, that's Rick Ross, a rapper.

Ajax has accepted a £18 mill bid, because of their financial situation, and he will sign for us.

Peace

He's my homie, and he told me that Suarez was at Schipol earlier today. He works at the pub beside Melwood. 100 per cent reliable.

So you've got a mate at Melwood who knows exactly who comes in and out of Schipol airport?

Would it not be more reliable if you had a mate who worked at Schipol, or at least JLA?

Can you phone any mates at Schipol or JLA?

Though knowing how tight we are, perhaps it's better to check the ferry instead.
