My parents sold their house just before prices really started to decline. They couldn't agree on where to move so went into rented to get the sale moving. They're now staying where they are with the money in the bank before it bottoms out a bit. They've done rather well I think, although they did pretty much luck out with the timing.

 

Good on them. Tell them to spread their dosh out a bit, or put it in Northern Rock!
