Tents

The ability of a tent to withstand harsh rain depends, in part, on the hydrostatic head of the tent. A specific tent will have a value for the HH. Here's some info on it.

Hydrostatic Head

There are other things to consider, as explained in that piece. Find a tent and then search for reviews of it.

Was thinkin of getting one of those pop-up jobs for the fests, but not sure if they hold up to horrific weather. Anyone got one?

got my daughter one a few weeks ago, gave it a run out last weekend, i dont think they are designed to last too long,

Gelert festival. it kept her dry, i wouldn't fancy it at a muddy Glastonbury though, its also quite cramped inside, dont bank on getting 2 people plus kit inside it unless you an expert.

If your not planning on using it again, fair enough, but the regular 2 man tents are bigger, and are still a piece of piss to put up. they will also last allot longer.

If you do get a pop up one, they are bulky to carry down, not heavy just a big circle thing, and get yourself a small groundsheet for the front of it, they are only about £2 but well worth it.

i got a 12 quid one from asda for a laugh. only a two man-er but it flys up and flys down so it's ideal for what i wanted it for (fishing).

it's the type of thing that if it breaks / goes wrong your not arsed about bagging it up and lobbing it in the bin. my brother got one aswell for fishing but used it for some festival or other and left it there. he took a backpack with a few pairs of jeans and tops in, a tent and ale and came home with a backpack full of dirty clobber.

I took the most massive tent in the whole world to the same festival 2 years running. Both years I never even bothered putting it up and ended up in another tent altogether.

My advise to you is not bother even taking a tent. You'll always find somewhere to kip anyway.
