Another mass shooting currently unfolding, 20+ confirmed dead apparently, gay nightclub this time around.

Pulse nightclub in Orlando. The police think the gunman is barricaded in with hostages, and possibly an explosive device. It comes the day after a musician, Christine Grimmie, was killed after a gig in Orlando by a loner from Florida armed with two handguns and a knife, who then killed himself.

Eyewitness account saying people were shooting back at the gunman...I thought perceived wisdom was that if everyone had guns this wasn't supposed to happen.

I didn't see anybody being blamed. That was the language being used though. It's probably appropriate for someone armed to the teeth killing a group of people they are presumably ideologically opposed to.
