He definitely is a problem. Hopefully he returns to something even approaching the player he was before this calendar year. Because this year he hasn't looked anything like one of the best players in the world. Which he obviously was.

Yes, the midfield is a bit shit. Yes, we've changed the other forwards (and perhaps people are seeing just how fucking good Mane was for the team). Yes, teams double up on him.

But the ball isn't sticking at all. He's making shit decisions, shit passes, and rarely looks like going past a defender.

Feels like he's always been wide but it's further up the pitch and he has two liverpool players in between him and the goal now. I dont know I think we put too much emphasis on Trents crossing ability shaping the team to get the most out of him just ruins the team, be a proper full back not this hybrid shit we see now that causes more problems than positives. I wonder what trents heat Map is so far this season comparative to a season or two ago or the title winning season, be mad if its still the same.

Id like us to go back to the title winning season when we were way more conservative and controlled in the first half of the season.

It definitely feels he's wider than he was, certainly when we're moving the ball slowly through that side of the pitch. I've been assuming he's doing it to try and drag players with him to allow some space for Elliot and Trent to operate in. But he's out biggest goal threat and we're not letting him be that. Right now it seems very counter intuitive. Even when we mix it up up front, we seem to be putting Diaz through the middle, rather than Mo. I'm sure klopp is seeing something and is just waiting for it to come off as I'm sure he'd change it if he thought the plan wasn't progressing. Maybe it just needs Trent to find some form.

Every single team we face thinks they can do us. That stems from the amount of space our full backs and midfield leave. For me it's our tactics that are killing us currently. If the players are fucked take a more practical approach, if players are injured play what best suits what we have. Dave mentioned in his podcasts Everton never played to spoil the game because they reckoned they could beat us. That is not a good sign Everton are so fucking bad and currently that's what level we are playing at.

He’s Basically receiving the ball where Trent does when we are playing well. He’s been stuck out on the right isolated with no one within 20 yards of him and left to do it all himself , which is not happening at the moment, the same could be said for Diaz on the other wing also. They should be in the position of receiving the ball further in with a cut back or 1-2 with Trent or Robbo that’s how we cut through teams, all of this is also linked to the slowness of the midfield play allowing teams to get set against us, also the counter press has been non existent this season, bring back the red arrows !

Trent's walkabouts aren't helping him, but neither is the awful service. He needs balls played early to him, so he has time and space to run with it. Virgil's long diagonal passes are now so well-known that defenders are leaning on Mo reading a magazine when the ball finally arrives. Harvey often passes to him tight on the edge of the area and then runs where the space is that Mo would want to run into. Robbo punts crosses over that hardly anyone, including Mo, has much chance of getting. And Trent is seldom there to link up with Mo because he now thinks he's Gerrard and has the freedom of the entire pitch. Yes, Mo is in poor form, but he's hardly being helped to play his way out of it.

He'll come good. Maybe not to his own previous high standards....but good enough.

Enjoy him while you can.

Absolutely this. His all round play is very frustrating at the moment but its easy to see why Klopp chose Salah to stay and let Mane go. In the game against United when we were admittedly shit and well out of it at 2-0 he pops up to score and gave us the chance of an undeserved draw. Deep in injury time in another poor performance v Everton he pops up out of nowhere and only the post and Pickford's fingertips stop us getting an unlikely victory. He is going to come good when things settle and in the meanwhile he'll pop up with important goals that keep us in touch in the PL and CL even if we aren't playing that well. Nothing for the hysterical fannies to see here.

PS,he's probably our most saleable asset now so we have to be careful what we wish for in the transfer market.

salah is usually miles ahead of everyone in the league on number of shots, but isn't at the moment. this season so far, he supposedly has created almost twice as many chance as any other player in the league. we are tweaking what he is giving and i am sure if it doesn't work, we will just get him closer to the goal again.

I think the plan on the right-hand side is to work the triangles until Trent has the space to put a killer ball into the box or to Mo in space behind the defender. Hopefully Trent can get his eye in soon but if not we need a re-think.

Up to now it's Salah playing that pass though. We're just not finishing them off.

He's having an odd start to the season. Klopp is saying he's not playing deeper which seems false when watching, but it's hard to objectively confirm that. Then, he's creating a lot of chances for others but shooting way less at goal. And finally, he's pressing roughly less than half as much as he was in other seasons and with less success.

Basically, it's hard to know what's going on here. Where he's a big problem for sure right now, is off the ball. You can't have a pressing system when one of your forwards is bad at it.
