Buying a new TV betvween 55"-65", plasma or LED?

So, I'm going to buy a new TV, not sure what to get yet but I'll be looking at something between 55" and 65".

 

Plasma seems to be the cheaper options and I do not really need 3D or a smart TV.

 

3D because I cant see it for medical reasons ( almost blind on one eye) and smart TV because I have Apple TV.

I bought Plasma a few years back on the advice that it was better for movement in sports and good on reflection from the sun but apparently LED have caught up since.

 

Fuck 3D but I would be tempted by Smart TV if it provides a degree of future-proofing

Code - what is your budget? What are you watching? I urge anyone not to purchase 3D, as carriers in the UK are few and far between now and it will be more or less unavailable within 12 months if current market forces (hate that phrase) are maintained.

If you decide on plasma (I wouldn't), make sure you view it before buying. Some people are prone to seeing phosphor/rainbow trails. I see the with projectors for some reason.

Plasma's just don't last long enough in my experience. I had to replace one and a pal replaced one too recently, both after 3 years. LED is the way to go big time.
