3D TV advice.

A couple of months ago, I bought an LG 47LM6400 (47" passive 3D LED TV w/ local dimming), a Bose Cinemate system and an LG Blu-Ray player for about $1550 USD and I'm quite happy with it. The passive 3D on LG (and Visio) is really great without the grainy artifacts that showed up in the active 3D Sony and Samsung tvs on display. The passive 3D glasses are cheaper too and you can grab extras from the movie theatres (if so inclined). Finally, the TV will connect to your computer/hard drive via wi-fi (or wired connection if you like) so if you rip your DVD/Blu-Rays to your computer you can watch your movie files directly on your TV from there using Plex Media Server.

We bought a 3d TV last year. We weren't actively looking for one, mainly got it for the price, we were looking at 50" screens and this one just happened to be 3d. Samsung, so need the active glasses - ours came with none! Bought a set of eBay, they were near £50 a go in the shops. Very gimmicky, after the initial "fun" they have hardly been used - in fact I think last thing I watched with them was Olympic opening ceremony, which was pretty good.
