Wigan @ Anfield, Wednesday night

We really have a weak squad.

The one thing I pray for is that Aurelio doesnt play in CM, as he has stank the pitch out Dirk Kuyt on a bad day style every time he has played there.

The balance of that 11 seems so unbalanced, that I cant really see it work however you place them around the pitch. A Gerrard from previous season would probably be enough to win it for us anyway... The Gerrard of this season`s ( has he scored from open play yet? ) form im not sure is enough to win it for us.

I anticipate another frustrating evening.

And is Degen crocked again?

That would be the least sensible midfield in the world ever, when you've got Aquilani fit and on the bench. Hope for Rafa's sake Gerrard is in the middle.

Totally agree. But I fear it is that one. Like Pompey away last season (and another game I can't remember which one).

well obviously Nando felt it after coming back from injury. Thats the logical conclusion.

Nando didn't look too sharp in the last game.

The obvious logical thing to do will be to start him against an inferior side like Wigan, make him score and get his sharpness back. Oh no, not with Rafa.

If he "felt" something, I'm sure Rafa would have left him out completely.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he did that. Not saying that to get a dig in, just that I can't fathom him out, and also that he might actually put Gerrard up there because N'Gog will probably need help.

I can't get over that team selection. What ya at Rafa lad !!

hope he proves us wrong. Wigan's defence are gonna be laughing their knobs off knowing they aint facing Torres.

If he has SG and masch in the mid, with aurelio left and kuyt right then maybe we could be ok. Yossi in the floating role with ngog up front. But I can see us struggling here - again.

Look at the shite people were coming out with a few weeks ago, saying how Rafa would play Torres and Gerrard when not fully fit to save his own arse and were using it as a stick to beat him with.

Oh wait...

So really the only question mark is Aquilani, Johnson injured, Torres just back from injury. I don't think the outrage is fitting for the situation to be honest.

No the logical thing if he felt something (tired, crampy blah blah) is to see how things go. IMO.

Agreed. People are in permanent outrage mode at the moment though.

I have a funny feeling Aurelio is going to play in CM with Mascherano, Yossi on the left and Gerrard up with N'Gog.

That's my predicted formation too

I can only assume that he thinks we can beat Wigan at home without risking a half fit Torres.

He still should be playing. It's not as if we have any big games coming up. Oh wait there's Reading.

Actually, the only logical thing is not to second guess Rafa. I have lost it every single time in the last 5 years or so.

If he is not fully fit then why risk him? We should still win this match tonight.

If we get beat tonight then I'm willing to admit that Rafa's time is probably up. However, can we stop the negative and over the top whinging before a ball has even been kicked? Nando is coming back from injury, AA from a long term injury, perhaps the manager has reasons other than wanting to sabotage our season.
